Brett Favre: Comments Regarding Aaron Rodgers Fuels Fans' Annoyance with Favre
Brett Favre opened his mouth just long enough to remind us of how annoying he had become.
There are very few athletes that have fallen farther from as high as Brett Favre has. We used to laud him as a grizzled gamer that got the job done. By the end of his career, we were holding the door open and asking him to kindly leave.
On Tuesday, he commented on the success of Aaron Rodgers, a success story he can hardly take credit for.

ESPN quoted Favre, who was interviewed Tuesday on Atlanta's 790 The Zone. That is when he waxed philosophically about his Super Bowl MVP understudy.
"I'm going to be honest, I was not surprised. The biggest surprise to me would be that he didn't do it sooner."
"He's very bright and he got a chance to watch and see successful teams do it right. And so he just kind of fell into a good situation. On top of that, he's a good player. I don't think there's any pressure on him now, the talent around him is even better than when I was there."
The report also cited The Zone released a statement claiming Favre's words were taken out of context. While we could give the ol' gunslinger a little slack, it is impossible to gloss over the words without also rolling one's eyes.
It may be too much to ask to have a Favre-free sports world for at least a year. But can we at least have one that includes the classic Favre, the one that was likable?
There is no denying that Aaron Rodgers has a great amount of talent around him. The same can be said for every other star quarterback that has delivered a Super Bowl victory.
For Favre to say that Rodgers was preordained to win because of the talent and his years of watching Favre play is laughable. It also comes off as extremely backhanded.
The correct answer on Rodgers would have been, "the kid is great and I wish him nothing but the best." To go on and not take into account the differences in offensive lines, the accuracy of Rodgers or the talent that Favre himself had is irresponsible.
Aaron Rodgers is a beast, and Favre is a legend. The gunslinger should be fine with both sentiments and leave it at that.
