Fantasy Football Week 5: Arian Foster, Aaron Rodgers and 5 Fantasy Locks
Who would have thought Arian Foster was going to tear up the Pittsburgh Steelers in his first start since suffering a hamstring injury?
Who would have thought Aaron Rodgers would be the first person in NFL history to throw for 400 yards, run for two touchdowns and throw four touchdowns?
Both players had huge weeks last week and are bound to continue that trend this week with back-to-back monster performances.
They aren't the only ones who will have big weeks, as there are plenty of other fantasy stars to keep your eye on in Week 5 of the NFL regular season.
Matt Forte (RB, Chicago Bears)
1 of 5Hopefully no one left Matt Forte on the bench last week, as he exploded for 200 yards rushing against the Carolina Panthers.
Expect another good week from Forte this week, as the team faces the Detroit Lions.
The Detroit Lions are 4-0 right now, but their biggest weakness is their run offense and run defense.
They are the currently ranked No. 20 in the NFL against the run and give up 113 yards per game. Forte is not only a threat to break loose on the ground, but also through the air.
Last week, the Lions gave up 42 yards receiving to Tashard Choice and Felix Jones and also gave up 58 yards through the air against Earnest Graham.
None of those players have the receiving abilities of Forte, who will exploit the Lions through the air and on the ground this week.
Expect another huge performance from Forte this week as he carries your fantasy team to victory.
LeSean McCoy (RB, Philadelphia Eagles)
2 of 5LeSean McCoy could end up as the top fantasy RB this week against the Buffalo Bills.
The 1-3 Philadelphia Eagles are struggling right now and face a surprise contender in the Bills.
The biggest issue for the Bills is that their defense has been exposed this season on multiple fronts. They have struggled against the pass, giving up 275 yards per game, and against the run.
The Bills currently give up nearly 130 yards rushing per game. On the other hand, McCoy has averaged over 90 yards per game this season and has added 20 yards receiving per game.
The Eagles are going to want to keep the Bills offense off the field, and the best way for them to do that is to pound McCoy throughout the game.
He should be able to break a few long runs and should be able to add at least a pair of touchdowns this week.
McCoy owners are going to be very happy this week.
Adrian Peterson (RB, Minnesota Vikings)
3 of 5If the Minnesota Vikings are going to have any chance of winning a game anytime soon, it is going to be behind the legs of Adrian Peterson.
Peterson and the Vikings face the Arizona Cardinals this week, who have really struggled against the run this season.
They are currently ranked 15th against the run in the NFL and give up over 100 yards rushing per game.
To this point in the season, the Cardinals have faced two bottom 10 rushing attacks in the Seattle Seahawks (31st) and the New York Giants (24th).
They have only faced one top 15 rushing attack, and that was the Washington Redskins, who are the sixth best rushing team in the NFL.
Adrian Peterson is in line for a huge day against the Cardinals and their porous run game.
Arian Foster (RB, Houston Texans)
4 of 5When you look at what Arian Foster did to the Pittsburgh Steelers, there should be no doubt in your mind that he will blow up against the Oakland Raiders.
When you look at the Raiders run defense, you are even happier if you are an Arian Foster owner.
The Raiders are giving up 136 yards rushing per game, and with Andre Johnson out, the Texans are going to rely on the run game a bit more.
These teams met last season, and the Texans ran all over them. Foster went for 133 yards, while the team as a whole nearly reached 250 yards.
If Foster can stay healthy for a full game, he is going to put up huge numbers, and his fantasy owners are going to be jumping for joy at the end of the day.
Aaron Rodgers (QB, Green Bay Packers)
5 of 5No one will ever bench Aaron Rodgers, no matter who the team is facing.
However, this week is a great matchup for Rodgers. The Packers face the Atlanta Falcons back in the Georgia Dome for the first time since the Packers ran the Falcons out of the stadium in last year's playoffs.
Rodgers went 31-of-36 for 366 yards and added three touchdowns last year against the Falcons. Instead of improving their secondary in the offseason and in the draft, the Falcons opted to trade up for Julio Jones.
The Falcons secondary hasn't improved much this year, as they are giving up over 275 yards per game and are in the bottom 10 in the NFL in passing yards allowed.
Rodgers fans will be celebrating again this week after Rodgers torches the Atlanta secondary.
