Fantasy Football Week 5 Waiver Wire: Why Owners Must Add Mike Sims-Walker
Risk in fantasy football is relative; a player with a bad week suddenly becomes a pariah, which gives savvy GMs an upper hand when looking for waiver wire gems.
Such is the case with St. Louis Rams wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker. His risk is high, but his rewards—which I believe are coming—are going to be major.
Sims-Walker has fallen out of favor for two reasons.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
One is that the Rams, 0-4 on the season, are having significant trouble generating any offensive production, which makes any player aside from running back Steven Jackson a risky start.
Secondly, the receiver hasn't stepped up when needed, dropping four passes in his team's Week 4 loss to the Washington Redskins. Even worse is that two of the drops came on third down, while another came on a surefire touchdown pass.
Hand issues can be difficult to overcome, but it's also hard to believe that Sims-Walker's problems will be as pronounced in the coming weeks as they were in Week 4.
He will have more chances to redeem himself now that starter Danny Amendola, who was supposed to return this week after dislocating his elbow in Week 1, re-injured his triceps on Monday. His odds to return after this week's bye are slim, and it's possible he could miss the remainder of the season.
This means that Sims-Walker will be the Rams' starting No. 1 wide receiver for the foreseeable future. He's worth a pickup in deeper leagues as either a situational starter or a bye week replacement and could see his value rise as he catches more passes.
Ideally, the Rams offense will find a rhythm as the second quarter of the season gets into full swing. If that is the case, Sims-Walker's fantasy owners will look like geniuses. Either way, he's worth a grab if you're willing to take a chance.
