NFL Picks Week 4: 3 Games Destined To Come Down to the Wire

Richard LangfordOct 1, 2011

This is going to be an exciting week of NFL football. There are great matchups across the board, and all of the following three are going to come down to the wire.

New England Patriots at Oakland Raiders

The Patriots roll into Oakland trying to erase the bitter memories of a mistake-riddled loss to the Buffalo Bills. Meanwhile, the Raiders are trying to cement their status as contenders after their big win against the New York Jets.

Both teams are likely viewing this as a game to create some serious momentum for the rest of their season.

This game is going to be a shootout. The Patriots bring their No. 1 ranked passing attack against the Raiders' No. 28th ranked passing defense. While the Raiders bring an improved passing attack against the Patriots' 32nd ranked passing defense. The Raiders will also look to do damage on the ground with their No. 1 ranked rushing attack.

This is going to be a shootout, and it will not be decided until the final moments.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Houston Texans

This game is one of the most intriguing matchups of the week as the Texans' high-powered offense will go toe-to-toe against the Steelers' punishing defense.

The Steelers are first in passing yards allowed and 12th in rushing yards allowed, while the Texans are 12th in passing yards gained and fifth in rushing yards gained.

I expect this game to be back and forth throughout. The Steelers defense will be able to slow down the Texans offense enough that their offense will be able to keep pace against the Texans below-average defense.

Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns

This game is a matchup of two teams that are 2-1, that few expected to be 2-1. But here they are. Both with winning records and ready to give fans an exciting game.

The Titans are going to need Chris Johnson to finally get things going in this one. The Browns are third in passing yards allowed and 29th in rushing yards allowed.

I'm not sure Johnson is ready to carry this offense, and the Titans are going to have a hard time moving the ball through the air without the injured Kenny Britt.

Meanwhile, the Browns weak offense is going to find moving the ball on the Titans' stiff defense a challenging task. This game is going to be low-scoring and close.
