NFL Picks Week 4: Dallas Cowboys and 4 Teams Guaranteed to Lose at Home

Roberto PayneOct 1, 2011

Losing at your home stadium is something teams never want to happen, but still it happens to every team. This week is no different, as there are a couple teams with bad matchups at home.

Teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars and Dallas Cowboys have particularly tough home games and will definitely struggle.

Read on for five teams destined to lose at home this week.

Seattle Seahawks

1 of 5

The Seattle Seahawks play the Atlanta Falcons in Seattle, and it's almost a guaranteed loss. The Seahawks have decent talent but not close to the level of the Falcons. Atlanta boasts a dynamic offense featuring Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez and Julio Jones, while Seattle's defense has a lack of star power.

Matt Ryan is a steady quarterback, who will expose the Seahawk's pass defense, and help set up Michael Turner and the running game. The Seahawks will try to get pressure on Ryan but to no avail in this game, and will lose at home.

Jacksonville Jaguars

2 of 5

The Jacksonville Jaguars play at home against the New Orleans Saints, and their surprisingly good defense will get their shot to play against the potent Saints offense. Drew Brees has incredible command over his offense and few play the position better than him. He has a bunch of weapons (even more now that Marques Colston probably will play) and uses all of them.

Brees has a deep receiving corps of Lance Moore, Robert Meachem, Colston and Devery Henderson, and the emergence of tight end Jimmy Graham only helps more. The deep running backs of Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles and Mark Ingram give the Saints even more flexibility on play-calling, and make opposing teams struggle with play action.

This game will be close throughout the first half, but Brees will lead the Saints to an early second-half lead and the victory.

St. Louis Rams

3 of 5

The St. Louis Rams were absolutely destroyed in the 37-7 beatdown by the Baltimore Ravens, and are 0-3 on the season. St. Louis had high expectations going in to this season, but started the season on the wrong foot. They could really use a break, but the schedule doesn't let up when the surprise Washington Redskins team visits town.

The Redskins have shocked the football world with their all around solid play and shouldn't have much trouble against the Rams. Rex Grossman is benefited from a solid running game and the offense is really clicking right now. It wouldn't surprise me if the Redskins got an early lead and their defense held it for the remainder of the game.

The tough part for Rams fans is the schedule only gets harder, for their next three games are against the Packers, Cowboys and Saints.

Cincinnati Bengals

4 of 5

The Cincinnati Bengals play at home against the smoking hot Buffalo Bills, and they have no shot. The Bills are coming off a comeback win against the New England Patriots, and are playing very well. Ryan Fitzpatrick has proven he is a capable starting quarterback and uses all his offensive weapons to make the defense pay.

Fitzpatrick leads a much improved offense that is playing with great unity and is very balanced. The running game was always a problem, but Fred Jackson is playing very well and Buffalo is the fourth best rushing team in the league, with 155 yards per game.

Cincinnati has an improved defense but, sometimes, a team with momentum can carve up the best defenses, and this week will be no different.

Dallas Cowboys

5 of 5

The Dallas Cowboys got a big boost when they beat the previously unbeaten Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football, and now they go up against another unbeaten team, albeit a much better team. Everyone knew the Detroit Lions had talent, but not many predicted them to put it all together as well as they have.

The offense, specifically the passing game, has looked good and Matt Stafford is creating quite the connection with wideout Calvin Johnson. Johnson has six, yes I said six, touchdowns in the first three games. If he keeps his current pace up, he will finish the season with 32 touchdowns. Obviously that is ridiculously high and very unlikely, but the point is his production is extremely high.

The Cowboys have problems defending the pass against superior quarterbacks, which Stafford is, and I see no reason why this game will be any different. Look for the Lions to win the game by double digits and remain unbeaten.
