2012 NFL Draft: 10 Biggest Game-Changers in 2012 Class

T.J. McaloonSep 28, 2011

So your team is in need of an impact player, it doesn't mean your team is bad, it just means your teams is in need of help.

If you look on the calendar, you'll notice we are still in the month of September. We still have four months of college football. We still have another four more months of the NFL as well. Well, five, if you consider the Super Bowl being in February.

We are still seven months away from the 2012 NFL Draft in April.

The point is, there is still a lot of football to be played. It's hard to think that your team is already looking at a college player as someone that your team will be picking in the top 10 of next year's draft.

However, if you are on this list of 10 teams that could benefit from these impact players, then you already know that your team will be in this spot come April.

NOTE: This list isn't a draft position list. If a person is 10th on this slide it doesn't mean that he is going to go 10th overall. Same goes for whom ever is first on this list. It's 10 impact players to help these 10 teams.

10. Kansas City Chiefs: Jared Crick, Nebraska

1 of 10

The Kansas City Chiefs gave up on defensive tackle Jared Allen once upon a time back when he had some trouble with the law. He has become one of the best defensive players in the league since being traded to Minnesota.

The Chiefs have been search for Allen's replacement and can find it in Nebraska's Jared Crick.

Crick is a dominant force on Nebraska's top 10 team this year and may end up as the No. 1 draft choice in next year's draft.

9. Minnesota Vikings: Alshon Jeffery, South Carolina

2 of 10

The Minnesota Vikings have two of their three skill positions sured up on the offensive side of the ball. They drafted Florida State's quarterback Christian Ponder in the last draft. They have the best running back in football today in Adrian Peterson. They're just missing that big wide receiver to go along with Percy Harvin.

Say hello to South Carolina's Alshon Jeffery. He has the height (6'4"), the big play potential and the experience playing in big games in the South Eastern Conference.

He has everything that the Minnesota Vikings could want to fix their biggest problem on offense.

8. St. Louis Rams: Ryan Broyles, Oklahoma

3 of 10

Will the St. Louis Rams make the playoffs this year? Sitting at 0-3 this year with Steven Jackson hurting, no main target for Sam Bradford to throw to and with a secondary that has been getting scored on in bunches this year, it's not looking too good.

So, let's say that the Rams end up in the Top-10 of the NFL Draft. Then, Oklahoma's big play receiver Ryan Broyles is a perfect fit to play with his former college quarterback Sam Bradford.

In their one year together, Broyles was just a freshman. However, since then, Broyles has matured to OU's best deep threat and OU's most reliable receiver.

Pairing them back up would make sense while sending an instant impact to a St. Louis offense that relies to much on the run game.

7. Indianapolis Colts: Trent Richardson, Alabama

4 of 10

The Indianapolis Colts have been in crisis mode since Peyton Manning went down with his neck injury. The general consensus is that the Colts need to draft a quarterback to replace Peyton when he retires in five years.

Well, what happens when or if he doesn't retire in five years? You can't play two quarterbacks at one time; so why would you draft one in the first round of this year?

This is why the Colts need to fix their running game by drafting Alabama's Trent Richardson.

He's a fast physical runner that can pass block while being able to be a reliable receiver when needed. He will be a nice replacement to Joseph Addai if the Colts go this way.

6. Miami Dolphins: Andrew Luck, Stanford

5 of 10

This one is a little tricky, as if the Dolphins do not get the No. 1 pick, they may not be able to draft Luck. But, what have the Dolphins done in the past drafts to make their fans think that they will go the way of Luck, or any other quarterback from this draft?

Case in point, the last time the Dolphins drafted a quarterback in the first round was in 1983, when they took Dan Marino.

That's 28 years since they took a chance on a QB in that round.

So what's to say that they're still tied into Chad Henne for another year or two? They may go with Jared Crick if they get the first draft choice.

5. Carolina Panthers: Michael Floyd, Notre Dame

6 of 10

This Carolina Panthers team is on their way to being very successful. They have their quarterback for the next seven to 10 years in Cam Newton. They have two very good running backs in Deangelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. And they have a good, but veteran, wide receiver in Steve Smith.

This is where the Panthers go in the 2012 Draft. They go out and find the next big play receiver to take over for Smith when he retires in Notre Dames Michael Floyd.

Floyd is putting up big numbers on with a quarterback at Notre Dame who is well below the talent level of Cam Newton. With Newton, the sky is the limit for Floyd.

4. Cincinnati Bengals: Michael Dyer, Auburn

7 of 10

The Cincinnati Bengals are trying to turn their image around. They had to destroy their team of veterans and were forced into a rebuilding phase this year. In that draft last year, they went big on offense by drafting quarterback Andy Dalton and wide receiver A.J. Green.

They are just missing that new running back.

Out goes current running back Cedric Benson; in comes Running Back Michael Dyer.

One of the members from the juggernaut of that offense from the BCS National Title team of '10 is carrying this '11 offense on Auburn this year. He will add to a young Bengals offense that can return the Bengals to the top of the AFC North.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State

8 of 10

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been failing their fans in the recent years from the NFL Draft. They passed on Tim Tebow two years ago when the fans were voicing their opinions. They then went and drafted Blane Gabbert last year, AKA drafting a quarterback one year too late.

This year, they have a chance to draft one of the best players in college football. They will have a chance at drafting someone that is big, physical, has big play highlights and can electrify the Jaguars fan base.

Justin Blackmon will sell tickets and bring those home games from "Black Out" on local television to an actual sell out at the stadium.

2. Denver Broncos: Kellen Moore, Boise State

9 of 10

This Denver Broncos team is in quite the bleep storm this year. The team wants Kyle Orton as their quarterback, the fans want Tim Tebow to start and all the while, Brady Quinn sits on the depth chart at the No. 2 spot while possibly being the best one for the job.

They need to hit the reset button like on an old Nintendo video game system and start over by drafting Boise State's Quarterback, Kellen Moore.

Moore, has proven time and time again that he is able to pick apart defenses while winning big games.

1. Seattle Seahawks: Matt Barkley, USC

10 of 10

The Seattle Seahawks are like the Denver Broncos. They have a lot of problems on the offense, and they need a lot of help in the next draft. The way to fix it is by drafting a quarterback in the first round.

Pete Carroll can fix his problem by forgetting about Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst, and taking a chance on a kid he recruited to take over his pro-style offense while at USC in Matt Barkley.

Barkley has not been as successful at USC as his predecessors in Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart and Mark Sanchez, but he's been just as good getting the ball to his receivers.

He can turn this Seahawks franchise around a lot quicker than any of the people they have at quarterback right now.
