10 Goofiest Interviews in Baseball
There's a lot to envy about the life of a sports journalist. They get to spend their days and nights covering the games they love, covering athletes that are well known from coast to coast.
To top that off their frequently tasked with sitting down and interacting with these players on a daily basis.
While the majority of conversations are direct in nature and pertain to the game itself, sometimes interviews turn off subject and head in a completely different direction.
Sometimes it's funny, while others it's just plain awkward.
Cameron Maybin Has What???
1 of 10I have no doubt that miscommunication is inevitably a part of interviewing players.
It's also apparently how rumors start.
Repetition Is Key... Except in Interviews
2 of 10I'm not sure Rajai Davis was prepared for the question he was asked.
In a matter of 18 seconds he managed to say "ya know" a total of 12 times which has to be some sort of record.
The Infamous Pete Rose/Jim Gray Interview
3 of 10This is one of the most uncomfortable interviews I've seen conducted.
Jim Gray hasn't exactly been known as one of the most highly regarded TV personalities out there, as he's oftentimes put players in very uncomfortable situations.
His chat with Pete Rose was no exception.
Nyjer Morgan, I Mean Tony Plush. Wait, No. Tony Gumbo.
4 of 10Nyjer Morgan is another individual who could have a slideshow all to himself and the many names he goes by.
Fans in Milwaukee are now wondering if it will be Morgan, Plush or Gumbo that shows up for the postseason.
Baseball Sword Fight
5 of 10I guess this doesn't exactly qualify as a goofy interview as much as background humor, but you have to wonder if the Twins could've scratched out a couple more wins if they had spent more time practicing baseball instead of sword fighting.
What Would It Be Like to Take a Trip Inside Brian Wilson's Beard?
6 of 10Brian Wilson could probably have an entire slideshow dedicated to the unique things he does and says anytime the camera is on him, but for purposes of providing variety this has to be my favorite.
Tommy Lasorda Contemplates Pitching to a Dwarf
7 of 10Nothing distracts Tommy Lasorda from an interview quite like a dwarf (2:30).
Chan Ho Park Reveals the Source of His Poor Outing
8 of 10I'd bet anything the journalists weren't expecting this response when they asked if he wasn't feeling well.
TV Reporter Verifies What Tim Lincecum Is Hoping for
9 of 10During an interview with Tim Lincecum following the San Francisco Giants 2010 World Series win, ESPNs Karl Ravech asked for his opinion on celebrations in town.
A Dallas news anchor verified that Lincecum was definitely on the right track.
Well, This Is Awkward
10 of 10If you ever want an interview with Miguel Tejada to immediately end, apparently you just need to ask him how old he is.
