Reggie Bush: Miami Dolphins RB Doesn't Know When To Keep His Mouth Shut

David DanielsJun 5, 2018

Reggie Bush never heard that snitches get stitches.

Bush is… was a Heisman Trophy winner, a third overall pick and one of the most recognizable names in the world of sports.  His former team, the New Orleans Saints, dealt Bush this offseason for a no-name safety and a late-round draft pick.  Most likely feeling unappreciated, the now Miami Dolphin halfback took an unnecessary stab at the Saints when talking to the Miami Herald.

After two New York Giants made fools of themselves on national television by faking injuries, Bush accused New Orleans of a similar practice during his time there.  He was quoted saying:

“We actually had that before in New Orleans.  It’s just one of those things when you get those hurry-up offensive teams. I mean, it’s legal.  They haven’t made any rules yet to say it’s not legal.  For the most part you’re supposed to have a designated guy for that. It’s not supposed to be four or five guys falling on the ground at the same time. Obviously that looks real bush league.”

Speaking of Bush league… Bush isn’t revealing some must-keep secret that will change fans views of players forever; everyone knows that players fake injuries, but Bush was just attempting to rat out his former team.  New Orleans signed lightning-bug back Darren Sproles following Bush’s departure and Drew Brees especially raved about what the Sproles’ addition will do for their offense.  Being that Sproles basically took over exactly the role Bush played during his time with the Saints, Bush probably didn’t feel too missed.

Bush needs to let go of how his time in New Orleans ended and focus on where he is now.  In a Dolphins offense led by Chad Henne, Bush was going to be forced to have a career year if Miami was going to even sniff the postseason.  If he didn’t play like the second overall pick he was back in 2006, the team’s offense would be a liability to their defense.

Despite being pegged the franchise’s feature back, Bush has just 115 yards from scrimmage through the first two weeks for the Dolphins.  Miami is actually having success moving the football between the 20s and are ranked top 10 in the NFL in passing, rushing and total yards per game.  They rank 25th, though, in scoring and Bush’s 3.3 yards per carry average and inability to consistently run between tackles certainly won’t help fix that issue.
