Patrick Chung Undergoes Surgery, New England Patriots Sign Phillip Adams
Taking a look back, should Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have cut ties with safeties Brandon Merriweather and James Sanders?
In my opinion, yes on Merriweather, but no on Sanders.
Entering 2011, many figured that the team's secondary would be considered a deep area, but now it appears rather thin as sources indicate that Patrick Chung recently underwent thumb surgery following an injury he suffered in the team's victory over San Diego.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Outside of Jerod Mayo and Vince Wilfork, Chung is arguably the team's most important defensive player, but it is unclear what his availability will be for the team's visit to Buffalo this Sunday.
As Chung will join fellow defensive backs Kyle Arrington (concussion), Josh Barrett (thumb), Leigh Bodden (hand) and Ras-I Dowling (hip) on the team's injury report, the Patriots made a move Wednesday, addressing the team's weakened secondary.
According to multiple sources, the Patriots have agreed to terms with defensive back Phillip Adams.
Adams is playing in his second year in the league; he was the San Francisco 49ers' seventh-round draft pick in 2010. Adams appeared in 15 games last season for the 49ers; he recorded 13 tackles and one pass defended.
The 23-year-old will immediately join New England's 53-man roster and is not eligible for the practice squad.
It is unclear who New England will roll out on Sunday against the Bills, but one thing is for sure: The team's No. 1 cornerback, Devin McCourty, is healthy and ready to go.
