NFL Predictions Week 3: Which QBs Will Struggle Most in Week 3 Games?

Zach KruseSep 21, 2011

In Week 3 of the NFL season, these quarterbacks could struggle in their respective matchups:

Mark Sanchez, Jets

Sanchez and the Jets face a long plane trip to Oakland, and you'd have to think both teams will want to run the football in this game. That will likely shorten this game. Sanchez also looked shaky last week against the Jaguars, which doesn't bode well for him against a similarly talented defense in the Raiders.

There's not much to like for McNabb against the Lions. When he's not handing the ball off to Adrian Peterson, McNabb will be under pressure for most of the game. He's proven over the past handful of seasons how underwhelming he can look in those situations.

Also, the Lions are plus-53.3 in quarterback rating differential, which is first in the NFL. McNabb has a long day in store.

While the Ravens are coming off an embarrassing performance against the Titans passing offense and Bradford went for over 300 yards against the Giants, I expect Baltimore's defense to look more like their Week 1 showing against the Steelers. That's bad news for Bradford. With most of his offensive weapons still hurting, he'll likely struggle against that now-grumpy defense.

Eli Manning, Giants

The guy who was responsible for more turnovers than any other play in the NFL last season is going against a defense that has plenty of players who can turn Manning's mistakes into takeaways. He's likely going to be under pressure, too. The Eagles have nine sacks to start the season, which is second in the NFL.

Other given struggles:

Kerry Collins, Colts: Collins against the Steelers defense doesn't sound like a good matchup, does it?

Tarvaris Jackson, Seahawks: A rule of thumb this season might be to assume that Jackson will struggle nearly every week.

Matt Cassel, Chiefs: Cassel looks like a shell of the player he was in New England and even last year when he threw for 28 scores. The Chargers will batter him again.

Blaine Gabbert, Jaguars: The rookie will be overshadowed by Cam Newton on the road in Carolina.

Jason Campbell, Raiders: Did you see what the Jets did to poor Luke McCown last week?
