Ron Artest: Will Metta World Peace Rebound After Dismal DWTS Debut?
That wasn’t very easy to swallow.
Ron Artest failed to impress in his first night on Dancing With the Stars—and that’s being generous.
He got the lowest score of the entire group with a 14 out of a possible 30. His version of the Cha Cha did not win over the judges, who called him “the wild one” and complimented him on his “fun factor."
Lead judge Len Goodman said, “Your footwork was atrocious." Not the greatest of compliments.
Personally, I think this is part of his master plan to keep our expectations low.
Today America is under the belief that a member of the LA Lakers doesn’t know how to dance. But how is that possible? He moves his feet at a fast and furious rate on the court and is heavily involved in the hip-hop industry. How can people like Chaz Bono and Nancy Grace beat him?
It’s all part of the plan.
The negative press on Artest was coming at a fast and furious rate after DWTS 13th season debuted Monday night. Look no further than E! to read a less than complimentary review:
"Then there was Ron Artest, who should stick to defense, because he's not going to achieve (Metta) World Peace through dance. We love his backstory—kooky NBA champion who's motivated by his darling daughter, who survived cancer at 4 years old—but we'd prefer not having to watch him dance anymore. So, we have a feeling that first-year pro Peta Murgatroyd is going to have a short debut season.
"
All the negative attention around his performance didn’t get Artest down as he tweeted he “killed it."
This was all part of his strategy. He didn’t want to unleash his best moves in the first episode. Artest set the bar extremely low and can only get better from here.
You think he’s going to let Rob Kardashian and Ricki Lake beat him?
No way. Expect Artest to rebound with a strong second act.
