They were lucky to be able to have Harrison Barnes back for a second year. Junior John Henson has just as much chance of returning as he will leave. Kendall Marshall made great strides during his freshman season and if he can capitalise on that next season, he will prove the mock draft experts right by leaving for the NBA.
Freshman James Michael McAdoo is being tabbed as a one and done player. Some mock drafts have him taken in the top five in the 2012 draft.
Even if McAdoo and Henson stick around for another season, North Carolina will be size deficient.
Roy Williams was in the running for Kaleb Tarczewski but he has since narrowed his recruiting list down to two schools, Arizona and Kansas.
They also missed out on Cameron Ridley, who committed to Texas back in January.
Recently they missed out on 6'11" Adam Woodbury who committed to Iowa Hawkeyes.
But not to worry. The 2012 class is laden with big men. Obviously, getting the top players are a priority. Mitch McGary (No. 2 overall prospect and No. 1 Center) still has North Carolina as one of his top schools.
McGary has already made home visits to Michigan, Duke and North Carolina.
Not that Roy Williams needs a five-star big man, but it sure does make life easier after Zeller and possibly Henson.
