NFL Picks Week 2: 5 Underdogs Who Don't Have a Chance

Bradlee RossSep 14, 2011

Week 1 of the NFL season yielded many surprising outcomes—and some not so surprising.

It also gave us some important first impressions about who is going to be good, who is going to be mediocre and who is going to be downright bad.

It's pretty clear just how bad some teams will be.

Here are five teams that will be underdogs and for very good reason.

Kansas City Chiefs at Detroit Lions

1 of 5

After the worst season-opening loss in franchise history, the Chiefs will be looking to rebound against Detroit. But it won't happen.

Ndamukong Suh will wreak havoc on Matt Cassel and the Kansas City O-line.

Matthew Stafford, a quarterback far superior to Ryan Fitzpatrick, will shred the Eric Berry-less Chiefs secondary.

Kansas City has no chance at a win this week.

Tennessee Titans vs. Baltimore Ravens

2 of 5

After losing to a mediocre Jacksonville last week, the Titans look pretty weak.

Despite Matt Hasselbeck having a pretty good game (263 passing yards), the Titans were unable to top the Jaguars in a gritty, ugly game.

Chris Johnson might as well have not shown up (nine carries for 24 yards). If he doesn't return to form soon, the Titans will go nowhere fast.

And he won't return quick enough for this week.

Plus, Tennessee will be facing a Baltimore defense that forced seven turnovers last week against the defending AFC champs.

The Titans have no chance this week against Baltimore.

Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers

3 of 5

Last week, Seattle was outplayed by 16 points by an average 49ers team.

Tarvaris Jackson was out-QBed by Alex Smith, and Marshawn Lynch ran for 33 yards on 13 carries.

This week they get the Steelers in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are coming off an embarrassing loss to their archrival and will be ready to take it out on whoever they can.

Bad timing for a bad Seahawks team.

The Seahawks have no chance of winning this week.

Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Jets

4 of 5

After beating Tennessee unimpressively last week, the Jaguars will travel to New York this week to take on the Jets.

It doesn't look good.

The Jets won a big game versus the Cowboys last week, in which their QB, Mark Sanchez, threw for 335 yards.

Expect much of the same this week, as that appears to be the best way to attack the Jags defense.

Also, Luke McCown will be shut down completely by the Jets D. Maurice Jones-Drew is a good player, but he won't notch many yards against this top-tier defense.

The Jaguars have no chance of winning this week against New York.

Carolina Panthers vs. Green Bay Packers

5 of 5

Carolina's rookie signal-caller had an impressive coming-out party last week, setting the record for passing yards by a rookie in his debut game.

But the Panthers still lost.

Will Cam Newton be able to replicate that individual performance against Green Bay? I have no idea.

But either way, it won't matter this week in the win column.

Much like last week, the opposing team's quarterback will have a big game, leading his team to victory. Last week, Kevin Kolb did it. This week, Aaron Rodgers will do it.

The Panthers have no chance of winning this week against the Packers.
