College Basketball Prospects: Where the Top 12 Swingmen Will Go Next Year

Ro ShiellSep 2, 2011

Just as a "combo guard" is one that plays both the point guard and the shooting guard positions, a "swingman" is one that plays both small forward and shooting guard.

Having a player as versatile as this gives a coach far more options when finalizing playing times.

The 2012 recruiting class is dominated by the big men, even though previous top center Andre Drummond reclassified and enrolled at UConn a year early.

There are plenty of swingmen available still.

Most may not be game-changers but they are effective because they can defend three positions, not to mention that some are prolific scorers.

Most are athletic so they will make great momentum-builders. A dunk will always fire up the crowd and increase team confidence.

To create this list, I compared ESPN's top 100 list to Rival.com's top 150 lists, then measured them against CBS Sports' top 100 for parity.

If your team is about to lose a swingman or two next year, the following lists of players should be more than capable of helping out, if they have not already committed to another school.

Cameron Biedscheid

1 of 12

Cameron Biedscheid committed to Notre Dame a year ago. The 6'6", 190-pound player is a solid pickup for Mike Brey.

He is listed as the No. 62 player by ESPN. CBS Sports and Rivals were more sympathetic to his game as they ranked him No. 45 and No. 30, respectively.

Justin Anderson

2 of 12

Justin Anderson is a 6'5", 210-pound wing that committed to Virginia in May this year.

He is ranked 61st by ESPN. Rivals has him ranked at No. 35 and CBS Sports has him ranked at No. 43.

Katin Reinhardt

3 of 12

Katin Reinhardt is a sweet-shooting athletic wing who is now committed to UNLV.

ESPN has him ranked at No. 60, while Rivals was more generous at No. 45. CBS Sports Online went further and him ranked at No.35.

Marcus Hunt

4 of 12

Marcus Hunt is a 6'6" wing who has committed to Georgia Tech.

ESPN has him ranked at No. 59, while Rivals has him at 100. CBS Sports almost split the two and dropped Hunt in at No. 87.

Glen Robinson

5 of 12

Glen Robinson III is the son of former Purdue Star and NBA All-Star Glen "Big Dog" Robinson, and is going to Michigan.

The younger Robinson is 6'6" and is ranked No. 52 by ESPN and No. 33 by Rivals. CBS Online went the other way and ranked him No. 93.

Jordan Adams

6 of 12

Jordan Adams, a 6'5", 210-pound player has already committed to UCLA.

Adams is ranked No. 50 by ESPN and No. 74 by Rivals.

Adams, who plays at prestigious Oak Hill Academy, is unranked by CBS Sports.

Torian Graham

7 of 12

Torian Graham is a 6'4", 200-pound player from Durham, North Carolina.

ESPN has him ranked at No. 38 but the other two networks were not so generous. CBS Sports have him at No. 47 and Rivals has him at No. 51.

He hasn't yet committed to any school, but is weighing offers from Miami, North Carolina State and Xavier.

Graham previously committed to NC State, but has since recanted his commitment. Maryland might have a chance.

Graham will be playing for his fourth high school as a senior next season.

Sadly, ALLKyHoops.com recently reported that this recruit recently lost his mother.

Ricardo Ledo

8 of 12

Ricardo Ledo is a 6'6", 180-pound long-range gunner from Providence. He had previously given a verbal commitment to the Providence Friars but has since gone back on that decision.

Eammon Brennan wonders if that's because John Calipari needs more players for his 2012 recruiting class.

Ledo currently has scholarship offers from the Friars, Syracuse and UConn. Kentucky and West Virginia round out his lists of schools.

Ledo is ranked No. 22 by ESPN, No. 8 by Rivals and No. 10 by CBS Sports.

Danuel House

9 of 12

Danuel House is a 6'6", 185-pound dunking machine from Texas.

As of June this year he had not yet narrowed down a list, but he told the National Hoops Report that five schools were recruiting him the hardest: Arizona, Baylor, Houston, Texas and South Carolina.

ESPN reported that this is now his list of schools: Arizona, Houston, Baylor, Missouri, Georgetown, Texas, Kansas, Ohio State and Georgia Tech.

House has been making great strides up the recruiting rankings, but he seems to have come from nowhere, so don't expect him to commit to anyone soon.

Both ESPN and Rivals have him ranked at No. 15 and CBS Sports has him at No. 36.

Archie Goodwin

10 of 12

Archie Goodwin is a very talented player. Probably more of a shooting guard, but at 6'5", 181 pounds, he could probably mix it up as a small forward.

He loves Kentucky and John Calipari's style of play, according to Nation of Blue.

Zags Blog reports that the list is currently down to Arkansas, Baylor, Georgetown, Kentucky, Kansas, Memphis, Missouri and UConn.

Goodwin is ranked No. 13 by ESPN, No. 12 by Rivals and No. 6 by CBS Sports.

Kyle Anderson

11 of 12

Kyle Anderson can play any position from point guard to small forward. At 6'7", 210 pounds, that is an amazing feat (Penny Hardaway, anyone?).

He is from New Jersey, and currently plays for St. Anthony's. Sounds like Duke music right there. However, he grew up a North Carolina fan.

Duke nor North Carolina made the cut when he narrowed down his list, though. His schools are Saint John's, Seton Hall, Florida, Georgetown and UCLA.

ESPN has Anderson listed at No. 5 in the 2012 recruiting class. Rivals has him at No. 2 while CBS Sports has him at No. 3.

Shabazz Muhammed

12 of 12

Shabazz Muhammed finds himself as the consensus No. 1 player of the 2012 recruiting class after having a great summer.

His current list of schools includes Arizona, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, UCLA and UNLV.

It's anyone's guess which school he is currently leaning towards. If I was caught between a rock and a hard place, I would say Kentucky.
