College Basketball Predictions 2011-12: 18 Best PGs In the Nation

Austin FoxJun 7, 2018

Point guard, the most important position on the basketball court, will feature many new faces at the position this winter.  Many freshmen will be stepping in and leading their teams all over the country.

Some veterans also return, looking to lead their teams to the NCAA tournament.  Here's a look at the best 18 point guards to watch out for this season.

18. Trey Burke (Michigan)

1 of 18

This may seem like a bit of a stretch to some, but Trey Burke will likely step in and start at point guard for the departed Darius Morris.

17. Deville Smith (Mississippi State)

2 of 18

Watch out for the Bulldogs in a year or two, as Deville Smith is just one of the many great players that Rick Stansbury has recruited to play in Starkville.

16. Ky Madden (Arkansas)

3 of 18

Along with B.J. Young, Ky Madden will give Arkansas a dangerous duo at point guard.

15. Chris Jones (Tennessee)

4 of 18

Chris Jones will likely step in and be one of the few bright spots for a depleted Tennessee squad.

14. Tracy Abrams (Illinois)

5 of 18

With Demetri McCamey now gone, it will likely be Tracy Abrams who steps in and takes over at point guard.

13. Ryan Boatright (Connecticut)

6 of 18

Ryan Boatright will have tough shoes to fill, stepping in for the departed Kemba Walker.

12. Quinn Cook (Duke)

7 of 18

Quinn Cook will be the next great point guard to have played at Duke.

11. Scoop Jardine (Syracuse)

8 of 18

Scoop Jardine will lead what looks to be an amazing Syracuse team.

10. Tyshawn Taylor (Kansas)

9 of 18

Tyshawn Taylor will be one of the few recognizable faces on this revamped Kansas team.

9. Josiah Turner (Arizona)

10 of 18

Sean Miller is turning Arizona back into a powerhouse, and Josiah Turner will be one of the key pieces to this team.

8. Myck Kabongo (Texas)

11 of 18

One of the most highly rated players out of high school, Myck Kabongo should step in and be a star for Texas.

7. B.J. Young (Arkansas)

12 of 18

B.J. Young and Ky Madden could potentially turn Arkansas into a contender this winter.

6. Reggie Jackson (Boston College)

13 of 18

For whatever reason, Reggie Jackson does not get the attention he deserves outside of the ACC.

5. Maalik Wayns (Villanova)

14 of 18

Big things are expected of Maalik Wayns this year, especially after Villanova underachieved mightily last season.

4. Tu Holloway (Xavier)

15 of 18

Tu Holloway is back to lead Xavier for another year, and hopefully will get the national attention he deserves this season.

3. Kendall Marshall (North Carolina)

16 of 18

After what Kendall Marshall did last year as a freshman, there's no reason to think that he won't be one of the best players in the country this season.

2. Jordan Taylor (Wisconsin)

17 of 18

Jordan Taylor proved last year that he is one of the best shooters in the country, and should only get better this season.

1. Marquis Teague (Kentucky)

18 of 18

Marquis Teague, only a freshman, looks like he will be the next great freshman to play for John Calipari and Kentucky.
