Fantasy Football Rankings 2011: The 6 Best Denver Broncos for Your Fantasy Team
Some teams in the NFL have their clear-cut, no-questions-asked fantasy star. The Minnesota Vikings have Adrian Peterson, the Tennessee Titans have Chris Johnson and, of course, the Philadelphia Eagles have Michael Vick.
One team that lacks a big name star, however, is the Denver Broncos. While they have a lot of talent, it's a little tough to predict who will emerge as the best fantasy player for the Broncos.
Here are six players who have a shot.
6. Willis McGahee (RB)
1 of 6Willis McGahee's career has been marred by inconsistency a bit, but one thing has remained very constant in his stat lines—he has a nose for the endzone.
McGahee hasn't posted the total rushing yards that he once had since 2007, but over the last three seasons, McGahee has rushed for five, 12 and seven touchdowns.
Knowshon Moreno will be the featured back in Denver, but McGahee will certainly steal some goal-line carries from him.
5. Eric Decker (WR)
2 of 6The young wide receiver out of Minnesota has a lot of potential to break out this season.
Eric Decker has great athleticism and is in the position to move into the No. 2 wide receiver spot alongside Brandon Lloyd.
He will be competing for the job with Eddie Royal and Matthew Willis mostly.
4. Matt Prater (K)
3 of 6That's right, a kicker. But Matt Prater is no ordinary kicker and he doesn't play in an ordinary place. Balls fly in Denver.
Prater has incredible accuracy from 50-plus yards out, and this translates into four to six points depending on how your league scores. If you tie these long kicks in with some extra points and a shorter field goal, you are looking at 10 points a game from Prater, your kicker. Not too shabby.
3. Kyle Orton (QB)
4 of 6I'm putting a stop to debate about who will be the starter for the Denver Broncos at quarterback. There is no reason why it should not be Kyle Orton.
Orton is one of the league's most underrated and disrespected quarterbacks. In his past two years in Denver, he has thrown for nearly 4,000, over 20 touchdowns and held a passer rating higher than 86 in both seasons.
Tim Tebow may be the quarterback of the future for Denver, and I do not doubt in the slightest that he has potential to be great, but as it stands, Orton is the starter for Denver and a decent backup fantasy option.
2. Knowshon Moreno (RB)
5 of 6Knowshon Moreno has been relatively disappointing in his first two years in Denver. Yet the former Georgia University standout has a lot of potential to breakout this season.
Playing for the pass-heavy Josh McDaniels offense the last two years, Moreno was limited in his offensive role and barely ever received looks in the red zones.
With defensive mastermind John Fox now running the show, expect a much more conservative offense featuring a lot more of Moreno.
1. Brandon Lloyd (WR)
6 of 6While it's hard to believe that Brandon Lloyd will once again be the receiving leader in the league this year, he showed to all of his doubters last season that he is at the least a very solid, No. 1 receiver.
Lloyd hopped around for his first seven years in the league and was never able to form a good relationship on any team. He was basically a backup receiver. The last season in Denver, he exploded for 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Kyle Orton loves to throw Lloyd's way, and despite the fact that Denver will be throwing less this year, expect Lloyd to still flirt with the 1,000-yard mark receiving wise. A solid No. 2 wide receiver for your fantasy team.
