Minnesota Timberwolves: Michael Beasley May Have Broken Wrist

“The times are tough now, just getting tougher. This old world is rough, it’s just getting rougher. Cover me.” Bruce Springsteen might as well have been singing about the Minnesota Timberwolves, but instead of “Cover Me” it’s more like “Cover My Eyes.”

The Wolves' world just got a little rougher when Michael Beasley reportedly broke his wrist on Sunday.

Beasley had been playing in China due to the NBA lockout on the same team as Boston Celtics’ all-star Paul Pierce when his wrist was injured. Many tweets and reports are coming out of China saying that Beasley did in fact break his wrist, but there is no American confirmation.

The bright side of this story for Wolves fans is that Beasley did have 32 points in the game before the injury. The not so bright side is the fact that Beasley cannot seem to stay out of the headlines during this offseason.

On June 26, Beasley was pulled over in Minnetonka, Minn. for speeding, but the officer found a bag of marijuana under the driver's seat. Beasley stated that the marijuana wasn't his but a friend's who he had just dropped off. Either way, Beasley was fined, ticketed and made another off-the-court headline.

Then on August 4, Beasley, alongside Oklahoma City Thunder all-star Kevin Durant, played in a New York City streetball game and got in a fight with a heckling fan. While a member of the opposing team was shooting free throws, Beasley, fed up it with the heckler, walked over to the fan and shoved him in the face.

With Beasley’s off-the-field incidents, the Wolves are hoping that Beasley will take Springsteen’s advice later in the song “Turn out the light, bolt the door. I ain't going out there no more.” If Beasley doesn't, his time in Minnesota may be short with the logjam at forward with Derrick Williams, Anthony Randolph and Anthony Tolliver all looking for a little more playing time.
