Arizona Diamondbacks: Ian Kennedy Halts Skid; Team Shakes Up Clubhouse
The Arizona Diamondbacks endured an interesting day in the nation's capital Tuesday. They took in an earthquake and a trade before the first pitch. NL Cy Young candidate Ian Kennedy took the hill looking to stop the six-game losing streak and pick up his 16th victory on the season.
Kennedy did just that as he pitched seven strong innings, striking out eight as the Diamondbacks beat the Washington Nationals, 2-0. Kennedy is now tied with Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw atop the NL with 16 wins.
Sean Burroughs played hero for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night, hitting a two-run homer in the seventh, his first of the season. The Diamondbacks are now 70-59 on the season, leading the NL West by two games over the San Francisco Giants.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
The D'Backs star outfielder Justin Upton left the game in the fifth with a contusion on his left elbow. He was hit by a pitch in the fourth. While his status is uncertain at the moment, he was most likely taken out for precautionary measures and is listed as day-to-day.
In exciting news, the Arizona Diamondbacks stirred the chili a bit by trading second baseman Kelly Johnson to the Toronto Blue Jays for second baseman Aaron Hill and utility infielder John McDonald. This was a great trade for the D'Backs, as they look for a fire starter heading down the stretch. This move also solidifies their middle infield.
Johnson and Hill are both having slumping seasons. That's why the change of scenery may be good for both. McDonald is a class act in MLB—a utility man who every team needs. Hopefully, Hill can re-harness some of his past power in Arizona. He only has six homers this year but has hit 25-plus in each of his last two seasons.
With the trade completed and a win on Tuesday night, the Arizona Diamondbacks got the breath of fresh air they desperately needed.
