Raiders vs. 49ers: TV Schedule, Radio and Online Live Streaming Info

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

The Oakland Raiders take a quick jaunt across the Bay Bridge to take on their rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. Both teams are in the same boat though, and that is a treacherous thing to be in.

More than players, there will be question marks all over the field on Saturday as the Raiders and 49ers renew their rivalry. They may also be renewing their claims to ineptitude along the way.

Both teams followed up dismal campaigns in 2010 with losses in the first week of the preseason. If they are to right the ship, it needs to happen in short order.

There are still a great many position battles to settle. The most important aspect is the two coaches that are still getting used to their helms aboard their respective ships.

It is time for the eras of Jim Harbaugh and Hue Jackson to begin. They better be more productive then their predecessors. These franchises don't mind canning head coaches.

Let's delve deeper into the upcoming clash.

Where: Candlestick Park, San Francisco, California

When: Saturday, 8:00 p.m. EST

Watch: CBS5 Bay Area; online at NFL.com (must pay $19.99 for leaguewide package), live look-ins on NFL Network; game replay: 11 p.m. EST Sunday, NFL Network.

Listen: KNBR/BONE Bay Area, Sirius 117 (OAK) 88 (SF)

49ers' Key Addition

Braylon Edwards switches coasts. The 49ers hope they get a great wide receiver with a chip on his shoulder. That would be amazing only if he manages to keep his off the field issues at home.

Otherwise, he is simply not worth the trouble.

Raiders' Key Addition

Kevin Boss will hope to be for Jason Campbell what he was for Eli Manning, a safe and secure target to throw to. The Raiders don't have much in security, but Boss is one of the best at reeling in the ball at the right time. The red zone will be his.

49ers' Biggest Loss

The Niners will miss cornerback Nate Clements. He was a perfect fit for San Francisco last year. With a new system comes another player to fit the role of secondary stalwart.

Raiders' Biggest Loss

The Raiders will be haunted by the fact that Zach Miller is gone. Boss will lighten the load, but Miller was more than a tight end that imposed his will on the field.

He was a locker room leader that will be sorely missed on a team that demands one.

What They're Saying

Rookie Stefen Wisniewski may just get the nod as a starter this season. Only, it will be at left guard according to Steve Corkan of the SportingNews.

Daniel Barber of Yahoo Sports reports the quarterback intrigue was ratcheted up a notch recently. The Niners, not sold on Alex Smith, brought in Josh McCown. There is a revolving door in the pocket, and no certainty who will show up as the starter.

49ers' Player To Watch

I will be keyed in on Alex Smith. The Niners QB has been given a very short leash with which to play. Any misstep and he may bid farewell to the last starting job San Francisco is willing to offer him.

There will be a great deal of pressure in Saturday's game for Smith, a player that has demanded the ball this summer.

Raiders' Player To Watch

Jason Campbell will determine if the Raiders are ready to forget all about 2010. The quarterback will be the reason Oakland flourishes or starves.

The amount of chemistry he has with the young blazers on offense will either have you energized as a fan, or nauseous. Such is the feast or famine way of the silver and black.

Matchup To Watch

I actually want to watch how the two sides are coached. This is a rare game that will mandate attention be paid to the pace and strategy of the two first-year head coaches.

The 49ers and Raiders are both knee deep in playoff droughts. These are franchises that demand more from their on the field managers. There is no honeymoon for Harbaugh or Jackson. Their beads of sweat and clinching of the clipboards are not posturing. They are very real indications of stress.

Raiders' Position Battle

It is only fitting that a game taking place in the Bay area, by the two Bay area teams, have a position battle of former home town heroes.

Cal's Kyle Boller, Stanford's Trent Edwards and San Jose State's Jordan LaSecla are all vying to be the understudy to Jason Campbell. It will be interesting to see which Nor Cal stud wins out.

49ers' Position Battle

It is all about the quarterbacks for San Francisco as well. Alex Smith should get another shot at a starting gig, considering he has never had back to back looks with the same offensive coordinator.

However, Harbaugh is very keen on giving Colin Kaepernick as much a good look as possible. This is a close race that will go down to the wire of opening day.

Key Storyline

Playoffs Baby.

The bay area is renowned for their playoff teams. It just so happens they have not had a team to renown in some time.

Both clubs will have an itchy trigger finger when it comes to their new hires at head coach. If the playoffs are not in the picture this year, they better be making great strides to reaching them by next season.

We will have a great deal of substituting going on. These are two clubs that are very much unsettled when it comes to their rosters. That means a good amount of drama for us fans.

Prediction: Raiders, 20-12
