WWE: Why John Cena Deserves the Title More Than CM Punk
Let me start out this article by saying that I'm on record believing that CM Punk should become the undisputed WWE Champion. However, in journalism it's always important to tell both sides of a story.
A case can be made for John Cena to win Sunday at SummerSlam and become the sixth undisputed champion in WWE history.
John Cena is good for business and there is no debating that. He brings in more than his fair share of kids, teens and women into the arenas as well as a number of television viewers. He's also good for the image of the company, as his charity work and appearances on mainstream media outlets helps the overall image and popularity of the WWE.

Perhaps some fans are sick of seeing Cena run down the ramp with the WWE title that was tailored specifically for a gimmick he hasn't had in years, but his target demographic doesn't seem to be.
As The Rock pointed out in his latest Facebook upload, for just as many Cena haters there are there he will always have fans rooting for him in every arena coast to coast and worldwide. Children and teenagers tuning in to watch WWE programming largely because of him. Just as the previous generation of adolescent fans did with Hulk Hogan, this generation identifies with the former "doctor of thuganomics."
Having Cena win this monumental match at SummerSlam further adds to his character becoming the face of this era of wrestling. Defeating an opponent like CM Punk who has the largest amount of momentum out of any of Cena's past foes, solidifies the jean short wearing champion as the biggest name in wrestling to come out of the post-attitude era.
Cena may be the stereotypical face in terms of his character and how it's portrayed in the WWE's scripting, but in the eyes of the fanbase he is the wrestler people will pay money to come and cheer for—or heckle—all night long.
Love him or hate him, the ability to evoke such a strongly divided response among the wrestling fan community takes a special kind of talent and nobody can stir up that kind of crowd response quite like John Cena.
