Tiger Woods: Will Tiger's Rush Back Spell Disaster at PGA Championship?
After all of the turmoil Tiger Woods has faced over the last two years, whether physical or mental, there is a chance that the man can resurrect his year with a stunning victory at the PGA Championship.
Now, with the tournament just a two days away, Woods looks to hearken back to the player he was before the trouble, not what he has become after.
Tiger has taken some time off to get his leg better after injuring his knee and Achilles, but now he feels he is ready to run it full strength at the tour championship.
By concentrating on his own psyche and getting rid of all of his distractions, like former caddy Steve Williams, Woods is making a concerted effort to get better.
While Tiger has been concentrating on getting himself right, letting the past go has been hard with the comments from Williams about his firing.
When asked about the interview Williams did after the Bridgestone Invitational, world No. 2 golfer Lee Westwood told the New York Daily News:
""I thought there was no relevance to the interview other than to have a good dig at Tiger Woods in the ribs, putting him on TV. It’s blatantly obvious that he’s a fantastic caddie, because he’s won with all different kind of players. I just didn’t see the point in putting him on TV. Obviously he does a good job. And there’s obviously a bit of friction there. So, what’s the point?"
"
The point was to voice the emotions that he had been building up for the past two years, but he stepped all over Adam Scott’s Bridgestone Invitational victory.
Woods sees that his former caddy is doing well, but he realizes that he is facing Scott and not Williams. The man is just a caddy and his comments will not shake one of the greatest players of all time.
This PGA Championship is all about Tiger Woods and his physical ability to keep him in contention for all four days. After one round, people were clamoring that Tiger was back during the Bridgestone, but an extended tournament took its toll, and Woods began to struggle.
The key will be patience for Tiger, and if he can manage to keep his head on straight and not get too high or low, there is a chance he could steal the show.
With Tiger on the course, there will always be a chance he wins.
