Ahmad Bradshaw Rumors: With Redskins and Bengals Out, Who Still Wants Giants RB?

Alex KayJun 7, 2018

The Ahmad Bradshaw sweepstakes doesn’t have too many interested parties.

Bradshaw, a seventh-round pick in the 2007 NFL draft, became a free agent this offseason and was expected to be one of the key RB’s on the market.

Bradshaw has won a Super Bowl, earned the starting job, and racked up a 1,235 yard, 8 TD season in just four seasons with the New York Giants. It seemed that a number of teams who had needs at running back would be making a strong run for him.

That just simply has not been the case. Either scared off by his fumble-prone running style (he coughed up seven balls last season, losing six of them) or his injury history, teams just have not been too interested in the Giants’ running back.

Bradshaw was originally linked to the Dolphins, who decided to go a different direction and traded for Reggie Bush. Then, after Cedric Benson’s legal trouble, scheduled a visit to Cincinnati, but recently cancelled as the team decided to re-sign Benson.

Bradshaw was latest rumored to be close to signing with the Redskins before the team traded for Tim Hightower.

Evan Silva recently tweeted in regards to the Bradshaw situation,

“Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Ahmad Bradshaw has a "very soft market." Schefter predicts Bradshaw will re-sign w/#Giants for less $ than hoped.”

Bradshaw needs to realize that all the teams that needed a veteran running back have made their move. Bradshaw has lost all his leverage and the Giants are now even bringing in Jason Snelling for a look.

While the Giants are highly unlikely to sign Snelling, he forces Bradshaw to realize that it would be best just to sign back on with New York for a few years. He missed his opportunity for a big contract and will now have to suck it up and take less. He fits in with the Giants and will most likely be the starter on the team again this year, so it would be prudent to just take the deal and man up.

Bradshaw will once again be a decent fantasy option. He was great in PPR leagues as well, snagging 47 balls to go along with his No. one/two RB status in standard leagues. The Giants will most likely have him split carries again with Brandon Jacobs, but Bradshaw should get the majority and be an impact back for the team.
