NFL Rumors: Ronnie Brown Likely to Leave Miami in Pursuit for a Championship

Tony SantorsaJun 27, 2011

As it appears that the NFL lockout is about to come to an end, the Ronnie Brown era as a Miami Dolphin is likely to go down with it.

In this year's draft, the Miami Dolphins selected Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas in the second round, which causes many to speculate that Brown and Ricky Williams will likely not return in 2011.

Brown, who was a call-in guest on The Channing Crowder Show on  WQAM-AM in South Beach, made it clear that he's ready to move on from the Dolphins organization.

"It's hard, but I am," the 29-year-old running back said in his call-in appearance. "I came to the reality that that's a possibility. You try to put everything in perspective, and my biggest thing is trying to be prepared as much as you can."

Brown was Miami's leading rusher in 2010, as he accumulated 734 yards, which was second to his career-low back in 2007, which was an injury-plagued season.

In another report done by Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, he reports that Brown is out to win a Super Bowl, but would still like to play in a warm city.

Brown has been a key part of Miami's offseason ever since he was selected second overall in the 2005 draft. He's seen time as the team's lead back and was the main running back in Miami's famous "Wildcat" offensive series; however, the Dolphins could feel that age is certainly catching up to the former Auburn Tiger.

Once the lockout is lifted, Brown will be one of the most prolific running backs available in the free-agent market, as he's so dynamic at not only running the ball, but also as a receiver.

Many teams will definitely find Brown serviceable, but Browns' hopes of playing in a warm-weather city while being in contention for a Super Bowl are definitely "picky," but it's certain that he and his agent will do whatever is in best interest for his future.
