Dirk Nowitzki Video: Watch Dirk Channel Inner John Wall With Awful First Pitch

Brandon GalvinJun 25, 2011

Dirk Nowitzki is on top of the world.

The NBA Finals MVP and champion may be the most popular sports figure in the world this month after answering the majority of sports fans’ prayers by shedding his soft label and becoming "The Germanator" to terminate the Miami Heat’s championship dreams.

He’s been everywhere over the past few weeks, most recently throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for the interleague bout between the New York Mets and Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas.

In front of the home Texas crowd, with the adrenaline still rushing from his postseason success, Dirk goes all-out in his excitement.

Look at the form and windup! Look how high he brings his knee to this chest as he makes sure to get all of his force into his throw. He tosses the high heat—clearly to the mascot, unlike John Wall—through no fault of his own.

Let’s be real, how is the seven-foot monster supposed to control his arm without any warm p and his arsenal of guns!? Look at those bulging biceps—nobody can control that.

He knows it, Young knows it, the mascot knows it, I know and you know it.

That’s why Dirk walks away proud as ever with his lovable, goofy smile.

This man is reigning supreme in the sports world and can do whatever the hell he likes, which includes throwing the ceremonial first pitch where he so pleases.

And you know, if Dirk Nowitzki wants to throw out a basketball instead of a baseball, then he should be allowed to.

Damn it, this man brought the first ever NBA championship to Dallas! If he wants to send a bowling ball down to home plate from the mound then by golly, set up some pins!

Epic fail? Epic freakin’ greatness. I want to see him run the basepaths, field grounders and hop the wall to hijack home runs.

I can’t wait to see what’s in store next in the great adventures of MVP Dirk. If we suffer an extended lockout, just send out Dirk, his long golden locks, accent and MVP award and watch him entertain beyond our imagination.

Wayne’s World? Nah, this is Dirk’s World now, and we’re just along for the ride. We’re not worthy!
