WWE Capitol Punishment 2011: How and Why the Card Could Have Been Improved
Looking at the card for tonight's Capitol Punishment PPV, I can't help but feel a little uninspired.
The only match I'm really looking forward to is The Miz vs. Alex Riley, and that's because it's going to have some kind of effect on future storylines and will, in addition, be a great match, which is what I want for my pay-per-view cash.
But the rest: seriously?

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
I know that injuries have had an impact—John Morrison would certainly have been involved had he not had that neck surgery (and, incidentally, it was obvious when they first said he'd be out for six weeks that it was a very optimistic prediction). I also suspect Alberto Del Rio was rather more battered by that epic Extreme Rules match with Christian than anyone has let on, meaning he has a stupid placeholder match with Big Show rather than anything more interesting long term.
I bow to no one in my appreciation for the wonder that is CM Punk, but we've seen this feud with Rey Mysterio before.
Last year.
Sure, they might put on a great match, but where's it going to go after that? We've had little buildup and there's no long-term plan.
Wade Barrett vs. Ezekiel Jackson has had a bit of a build, but it'll be an abysmal match, probably resulting in Big Zeke slamming Barrett repeatedly for the win.
Christian vs. Randy Orton is something we've seen before (and it seems like we've seen it more than we have thanks to Smackdown's interminable recaps). Orton was cleared yesterday to participate in the match after receiving a concussion last week, and what worries me here (apart from the state of his health, of course) is whether this injury will affect the way the match is put together.
At its best, this too could be a good match, but I'm a little wary.
What else?
Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston? Seen it. R Truth vs John Cena could possibly be fun depending on how crazed Truth is, but you know SuperCena will triumph after the adversity of a single loss last week.
What do you think? Will you be paying out to watch Capitol Punishment tonight? And if not, what would make you open your wallet?
