NBA Draft 2011: Jimmer Fredette and the Five Most Underrated Guards in the Draft
It's a league full of guards today in the NBA, with guys like Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook.
This year, the major standout of the draft is Duke's Kyrie Irving, a point guard himself.
However, there are a few other guards in the draft who aren't receiving the same amount of attention, but maybe should be. Here are five guards in this 2011 NBA Draft that should be getting a little more attention than they are right now.
Alec Burks
1 of 5
With a big 6'10" wingspan and some nice ball handling ability, he can finish at the rim strong with either hand and can really light it up.
Burks is a natural scorer and has some killer instinct. While possible top pick Kyrie Irving is the standout point guard, Burks' handle and ability to play the point doesn't get enough credit.
Jordan Hamilton
2 of 5
Jordan Hamilton can score.
Hamilton has a great shot and can either spot up or post up smaller defenders. The Texas guard can shoot from beyond the arc as well.
He can also get down the floor quick and knows to look for and find open teammates better since his freshman year.
Marshon Brooks
3 of 5
Marshon Brooks is a great athlete and has a real knack for creating his own shot. Finishing second in the nation in scoring, he can shoot beyond the arc and can take it off the dribble as well.
Tyler Honeycutt
4 of 5
Tyler Honeycutt has a lot of tools.
He can rebound, defend and can guard more than one spot. Like his defensive abilities, he can also play at either guard or forward and as a big guard, he can really attack the rim off the dribble. He also has the ability to wiggle around defenders and can pass as well.
Jimmer Fredette
5 of 5
It's been thrown around that Jimmer Fredette could end up being the next Adam Morrison, but give the guy some credit.
He finishes strong around the rim, has an excellent shot and uses his body to get tough shots off. At the least, he has the ability to play a J.J. Redick style shooting game.
