Cam Newton to Terrell Owens: Why the Carolina Panthers Should Sign the Veteran WR
Terrell Owens will more than likely not be returning to Cincinnati.
With the organization’s refusal to let Chad Ochocinco go and decision to bring in yet another wide receiver, former Georgia WR A.J. Green, Owens simply does not have a place on the roster anymore. But, that does not mean that his NFL career has to be over.
The man breathes the game of football and that will not just go away because he has been traded more over the last few seasons than Pokemon cards.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He could be just what the doctor ordered for Cam Newton’s first season in Charlotte.
Rookies always have lots of pressure on their shoulders, especially if they are picked within the first 25 spots. But the overall number one pick is he who feels the most. In this year’s case, that pick is none other than Cameron Jerrell Newton, but he is used to playing through the fire and brimstone.
At Auburn, even though he showed no signs of faltering, his undefeated record in the NCAA opened him up to critics that more than likely focused on his smiles and playful behavior than his on-field dominance. People analyzed his personality rather than his arm strength and athleticism. Everyone except for the Carolina Panthers, that is.
Now that he is an official NFL rookie, the Panthers need to focus on his primary receiving target.
With the exception of Steve Smith, there are not many receivers on the squad that could get physical with defenders and open in the time of need. I would hate to refer to them as mediocre talents, but as far as NFL-level play is concerned, Newton needs more than what Carolina has put on his plate.
With Smith reportedly looking for a way out of the organization, Carolina should be searching for a replacement. Let’s face it. Without that main man for Newton to have in late-game situations, he may second guess himself twice as much during those instances.
Why not look to Terrell Owens as that guy? Yes, his personality can be a bit brash and overwhelming at times, but it seems as if Newton would have no issue adjusting to his characteristics. I can even go as far to speculate that they are very similar in many ways.
Both are extraordinarily confident in the things that they can achieve on the field. Their ways of getting the job done may not always be conventional, but each manages to embarrass their defenders whenever given the opportunity. Newton has a bullet for an arm and Owens can catch anything thrown within a 10 mile radius. Seems like a match made in football heaven.
