WWE: Profiling Future Stars, Part 9: FCW Superstar Abraham Washington

Ryan FryeMay 30, 2011

For weeks now, I have been profiling superstars from the World Wrestling Entertainment's Developmental Territory: Florida Championship Wrestling.

These FCW Superstars have stood out from the rest of the pack, and many will become future WWE Superstars.

Today, I profile the most entertaining man in sports entertainment: Abraham Washington.

Washington debuted his character in FCW, as a presidential-like figure. He was in numerous roles, including commentary.

First as Abraham Saddam Washington, and later Saddam was switched to Obama.

He was called up to the main roster, and hosted a "talk show" on Extreme Championship Wrestling.

Washington brought the majority of the ECW Superstars on the show, including our favorite broski, Zack Ryder.

The show followed a common formula; he would ask questions to anger the guests, and then blow it off as "just playing." When the guests blew up, he ended the show.

Washington became the recipient of tons of heat, which helped get him over as a heel. Now, many in the Internet Wrestling Community found him annoying, but I found heel tactics and comedic sensibilities to be gold.

In a way, Washington is the wrestler's version of Michael Cole with more charisma.

Abe's show folded with the ECW. He was demoted to FCW, where he soon became a full time wrestler.

He is currently working on his in-ring skills in FCW. If he can improve them, I see a very bright future for Washington.

As far as his future, the WWE could go many directions with him.

Washington could revive his show on Raw or SmackDown, and it could lead into a feud and an in-ring career for him. Even as a wrestler, we should still see the Abraham Washington show.

There have also been rumors of Washington being the anonymous Raw general manager. If the case, Washington has all the skills to garner heat quickly with a much larger audience.

While I think that many maybe expecting a bigger name to fill the role, this possibility would make Washington very prominent on WWE TV right off the bat.

We have also heard rumors of the WWE bringing back managers. Washington could fill such a role, and gain tremendous heat for the man he is managing.

However, this may put Washington's career on hold more than anything.
