WWE News: George "The Animal" Steele on Savage and McMahon's Relationship

Gone Baby GoneMay 24, 2011

Over the years, there has been speculation as to why the WWE and Randy Savage have not worked together since his departure in the early 90s.

Many have said that McMahon and Savage had a falling out due to a relationship between McMahon's daughter Stephanie and Macho Man.

If this were true McMahon would most likely have pressed charges against Savage, as that is something that would not be taken lightly due to Stephanie being underage at the time of the alleged incident.

According to Wrestlezone.com, Sirius XM radio show "Busted Open" interviewed WWE legend George "The Animal" Steele, who proposed a different theory.

Steele made the following comment about the McMahon/Savage situation; "He was traveling with Vince all the time. Randy was almost like a son, they were really tight. And then one day, we were at a TV meeting, and we got word that Randy, without calling Vince, had left and jumped to the WCW."

Steele added; "I had never seen Vince McMahon broken before; he was crushed. It hurt him big time and I don’t think he ever got over that. I think that’s the real problem to be honest with you. I heard all this other stuff that I think is garbage when it comes to Randy and relationships with daughters and all that stuff…..I don’t think that’s anywhere close to the truth."

Out of all of the possible scenarios out there, this seems to be the most logical. Steele, was a part of the WWE at the time and would have witnessed a lot of these backstage happenings. Savage was a part of the WWE's announce team when he left and probably felt that he still had more to give in the ring. Which he proved during his run with WCW.
