Philadelphia Eagles: Should the Team Bring Brian Dawkins Back to Philadelphia?
Brian Dawkins played 12 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1996 to 2008. He has played more games in midnight green than any other player in the history of the organization.
How would Philadelphia fans feel about bringing back Weapon-X for one final season?
I'm not saying he would return as a starter; Dawkins is way past his prime and isn't close to the player he once was. He is 37-years-old after all.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
However, he could still have a positive impact on the organization.
First, none of us will ever forget the fire and intensity that Dawkins brought to the team. Even if he isn't on the field, that attitude rubs off on the individuals surrounding him.
More importantly, look at the current players at safety for the Eagles.
It's safe to say that the two starters will be of the following players: Kurt Coleman, Nate Allen, and Jaiquawn Jarrett.
Coleman and Allen each have one year under their belt. Jarrett is the second round pick for the Eagles from this year's draft.
Is there any other player in the NFL who you would rather have teaching these kids the ropes?
Dawkins is known for being a fantastic locker room presence, an impact player on the field, and one of the best characters outside the stadium.
Andy Reid said himself that he sees a lot of Dawkins in Jarrett, so why not let him be the teacher.
“It’s not fair to compare him to Brian Dawkins but they’re the same stature, size, same speed. And they both will torch you. Different personalities, different guys, but I don’t think you’ll want to run up the middle on either one of them. They‘ll blow you up.”
Let's not pretend that Dawkins couldn't actually make an impact on the field either. Sure, he isn't the player he once was, but he could be a situational player, nonetheless.
Despite his 2010 season being shortened by injury, Dawkins did still manage 66 tackles and two interceptions.
Imagine the energy boost the defense would get if Dawkins came onto the field at safety in goal line situations.
The Eagles have a really good team. They have a legitimate shot at being a Super Bowl contender in 2011.
If there is any player in the NFL that deserves a ring, it's Brian Dawkins. Why not give him that one final chance?
