NFL Talking Heads: Gus Johnson Joins FOX and Heads Top 5 NFL Personalities
If you’re a fan of hip-hop then you have a top 5 list of your favorite MC’s. It may include my man Biggie or the god MC, Jay Hova. His name for himself, not mine. There is God’s son Nas, Kool G Rap, Scarface, Andre 3000, and many more.
If you’re a fan of the National Football League then you have a list of your favorite talking heads or personalities. There’s Sean Salisbury… Oh, wait. Well there is NFL Hall of Famer and former Dallas Cowboys Emmitt Smith…Hmmm, nevermind.
Well, you get the picture by now I hope.
Watching your favorite NFL squad on Sunday’s is taken to another level when you hear the sound of your favorite NFL commentator, like Matt Millen or Cris Collinsworth.
My man Gus Johnson is the creme de la creme of sports announcers. He's energetic, exciting, and most of all he knows what he's talking about.
With news that the fiery announcer is moving to Fox Sports to call games I figured it was time to do a top five list.
Here are the top 5 NFL talking heads in the game today, including new FOX addition Gus Johnson.
Mike Tirico
1 of 5
Money Mike is one of the coldest dudes to touch an NFL mike. He brings the noise for other sports besides the NFL but he’s at his best when calling an NFL Monday Nighter.
Tirco, that’s what I call him, is one of the best in the game today and may man is always impeccably dressed.
Terry Bradshaw
2 of 5
Tell me that you don’t watch Fox NFL Sunday to see what Terry is going to say or how he’s going to react to one of Howie’s statements?
From back in the day when he would flirt with Jillian the weather girl every morning to hearing him call out Big Ben after his motorcycle accident; Terry is another cat who doesn’t back down from a late night alley match.
Whenever he decides to call it a day the Fox NFL team will not be the same.
Steve Young
3 of 5
I know that Young isn’t necessarily a play-by-play type of guy but he’s actually lucid. He doesn’t necessarily play favorites and seems to look at both sides of the coin instead of the one ESPN wants him to see.
Young is level headed and maybe that’s why he isn’t that popular. But the former 49er quarterback has a ton of NFL knowledge that he seems to actually use in a good way instead of blowing hot air to quantify his own point.
Pam Oliver
4 of 5
I have enjoyed Pam ever since she joined the Fox NFL coverage team back 1995. She’s not afraid to ask a tough question and often goes head up with Fox commentator Joe Buck.
Then there was a Cowboys game when Oliver yelled out “Take that Z!” to her producer. Buck gave a smug comment regarding Pam’s so-called un-professionalism but that seems to be the history between these two.
Oliver is one of the best sideline reporters in the game and here’s hoping that she has another 10 years on the air.
Gus Johnson
5 of 5Hands down the best NFL commentator in the game today. If Johnson could call my funeral I would want him too. He brings a new level of excitement that captivates you, even when it’s just first down.
I always feel like my head is about to explode when I hear Gus talk but in a good way. Like you can’t stay in your seat when watching Gus talk and my man always brings the noise.
Gus Johnson, again, is the best commentator in sports today.
