Miami Heat-Boston Celtics: Between LBJ and Wade, Miami Finally Picks a Closer

Alex RobertsMay 10, 2011

LeBron James or Dwyane Wade?  Who's the closer?

The answer:

Both of them.

This entire season has been set up for one important series.  One NBA changing of the guard style series.  Miami and Boston in the East.  Everyone wanted to see this.  With Miami's early struggles and inability to close out the close game, questions arose as to who would be closing out games in the playoffs.  Some people said that it couldn't be done.

Last night, in Game 4 of the series, Miami made an announcement.

We have not one, but two of the best players in the game.  They will both close you out, and do it efficiently.  LeBron James with his brilliant drives, Dwayne Wade with his lightning fast handles and pull up jumpers, both with their fade away shots late... they are just too brilliant for words.

I wrote an article after Game 1 about the traditional bullies of Boston being out-bullied by the Miami Heat.

Now, the traditional clutch performing team was out "clutched" by the younger, more athletic Heat.  The Heat are doing everything possible in this series to prove that they are the new team to beat in the East.

Make no mistake, Boston will not come back in this series.  They will have to beat Miami three times in a row—twice in Miami—and that just isn't happening. Boston will make it tough, but those chances are just too slim for even a proud team like Boston to achieve.

Miami has shown grit, toughness, and a willingness to take any sort of punishment that a team can dish.  The bench has come on strong as well.

James Jones, stand up.  You are turning into a mini Ray Allen.  Joel Anthony?  You got me standing and saying "MVP" with the rest of the Heat faithful.  Mike Miller?  You are tenacious on defense and rebounding... I wish you would shoot more, because when you get hot, you can be a killer. Mario Chalmers can be a beast on defense and is good for an occasional big three point shot.

In other words, the team that people thought could win 72 games in the regular season is finally showing its championship form.

It took this series for them to find it.  Whoever wins the Atlanta/Chicago series is going to have their hands full with a much tougher, more understanding Miami Heat team (assuming they close out this series).

A more "understanding" Heat team?  That's a scary thought.  They may have mentally caught up with their athleticism.

Good luck to the rest of the NBA.
