WWE: 10 Reasons Randy Orton May Turn Heel
As I'm sure everyone knows by now, Randy Orton beat Christian for the World Heavyweight Championship this past SmackDown. Just two days after winning the title at Extreme Rules, Christian lost it.
Many theories as to what the outcome will be have been brought up, but I would like to believe in the most probable outcome from this match. In this article, I'll give 10 reasons why I believe Randy Orton will turn heel.
1. The Fan's Reaction: Even before the match officially aired, we all witnessed an outpouring of anger, frustration and sadness towards WWE and their decision to give Orton the title so soon. I alone have seen hundreds of angry comments towards Orton for him accepting the title from Christian, rather than giving Christian his time to celebrate and experience his dream as being champion. We can't forget Orton does indeed have the power to turn down titles and victories; he very well could have given Christian time to be champion rather than putting himself over. Fans from all over have seemingly turned on Orton because of this.

2. The Crowd's Reaction: On the SmackDown broadcast, you heard cheers for both Orton and Christian while they had their match. We also heard cheers as Orton won the title. Coming from someone who was there live, I have to tell you this was quite the opposite as to what we really heard. You have to remember that the WWE edits SmackDown broadcasts and puts in or takes out crowd reactions to make the show better (better in their opinion, anyways). When Orton won he was given many boos, something I can say WWE was ready to edit out to make Orton look even better.
3. Randy Orton After the Match: It didn't air like I thought it would on the broadcast, but after the match, Orton came back out with the title and reminded everyone that he is the new World Heavyweight Champion. To me this looks to be a heel move, as he appeared to rub his victory in the face of the fans and Christian. I don't see any other reason why he would do this other than to help create a heel turn for himself and possibly further a feud with Christian.
4. Randy Orton During the Match: If you payed attention to Orton's face during the match, you would have see frustration in his eyes. That isn't necessarily a sign he will turn heel, but it is something we haven't seen in a long time. Orton never used any heel maneuvers during the match, but we've seen Superstars give these looks soon before a heel turn (even if it's later on in the following weeks).
5. Randy Orton Wanting to Turn Heel: We all know Orton prefers being heel over being a face. Just a while ago it was reported that he was wanting to turn heel again soon. Orton's a great face as well, but he really exceeds as a heel. I think this is a step towards him getting what he wants here.
6.Christian's Popularity with the Fans: Although Christian turning heel could very well happen, I don't think it's nearly as likely. He is more over with the fans than he has ever been. A feud between the two hasn't even officially started yet and the fans are behind him already. This kind of thing hasn't happened in years. Orton is just as popular, but he has planted all the seeds to being at the point where he can turn heel.
7. Making the Rematch More Exciting: I can only assume their rematch will be at Over The Limit, so I'm going to say WWE will want to make it a Face vs. Heel match, since Face vs. Face World Title matches are very rare. Not only that, but turning Orton heel would give even more depth and interest in their feud if done right. I can't imagine there being no Heel turns or build up for this match.
8. WWE's Reaction to the Fans: It's also been reported than WWE is very shocked by the fans' opinion on this match and the title switch. Maybe WWE will decide to turn Orton heel and give us one hell of a feud. This could also lead to giving Christian the title back to make us happy and continuing to build a new star.
9. SmackDown Needing a Top Heel: Right now, SmackDown honestly doesn't have a top heel. The closest thing to it is either Mark Henry, Wade Barrett or Sheamus. Each of these guys has potential, but right now they just aren't at the main event level, even though they should be. Randy Orton has all the things it takes to fill that position.
10. This Makes More Sense: A Randy Orton heel turn, simply put, makes much more sense. Right now no one would be surprised if he turned heel, even as soon as this week's SmackDown. He has all he needs to be a heel right this second.
Hopefully Randy Orton will turn heel and we'll see an epic rematch with Christian, even better than their first for the title. A feud like this could really help Christian break out even farther into the main event scene, but he needs to regain his title to do so.
Hope you liked this article, bleachers. Comment and tell me what you think should happen!
