NFL Draft 2011 Results: Recapping Draft Picks 21-24
The 2011 NFL draft results are here for you NFL fans. We continue our rundown of the first round with the 21st through 24th picks.
I would like to call the next four the "mountains and monsters foursome." This is a group of giants amongst stout athletes. These next few guys certainly ate their vegetables growing up, as well as whatever else was in the fridge.
The 2011 draft continues with some very talented big men that will be amazing additions to their teams.
Here is a brief breakdown of the next four draftees to enter the NFL.
Cleveland Browns Take Phil Taylor at No. 21
1 of 4
The Browns have issues. They are still trying to build a team that can compete with the Steelers and Ravens of the world.
To do that, you need a top-tier defense.
The Browns took a huge leap towards that end on Thursday. Phil Taylor is a huge man that will command a ton of attention on the line.
That will make the rest of the pass-rushers seem that much better. Taylor is really gifted at stopping the run. This is like placing a mountain in the middle of the field that running backs will have to run around.
Indianapolis Colts Take Anthony Castonzo at No. 22
2 of 4
The Colts looked horrible for a good stretch towards the end of 2010. There was a string of losses that almost saw the Colts miss out on the playoffs.
The main reason was a lack of depth on the line.
Castonzo shores that up right away. Peyton Manning will have all the time in the world now.
Gone are the days where he throws 11 interceptions in three games, I hope.
Philadelphia Eagles Take Danny Watkins at No. 23
3 of 4
The Eagles dug deep to make sure their franchise player stays upright next season. Philadelphia took right tackle Danny Watkins.
Vick is the most prized commodity for the Eagles. Their line was getting a bit long in the tooth.
So, it makes sense that some depth was added.
Watkins shores up the blind side and adds a player that will improve the run. Watkins has great footwork and will keep defenders well ahead of him.
He won't even think of quitting until the game is over.
New Orleans Saints Take Cameron Jordan at No. 24
4 of 4
The New Orleans get a brute at defensive end in Cameron Jordan.
The Saints are still in the process of forgetting about last season's embarrassing loss in the playoffs. The sting of losing to the Seattle Seahawks, a team with a losing record, may take some time.
In that game, Seattle ran all over New Orleans. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck had loads of time to dissect the defense.
Adding Cameron Jordan addresses all those issues.
Jordan has a great motor and will give you all he has all season long. He is a great pass-rusher that will also contain the run on the outside.
His game could use some fine-tuning, but he can contribute immediately. Jordan shores up a defensive line that was much too porous to be a title contender.
The Saints can go back to being a Super Bowl threat now.
