WWE Extreme Rules 2011: 5 Gimmick Matches That Should Have Been Included
This Sunday we have the latest WWE PPV Extreme Rules—the night where all the rules are extreme. For now only five matches have been announced.
Each of these matches will have an unusual stipulation. We have a Triple Threat Steel Cage Match, a Ladder Match, a Last Man Standing Match, a Falls Count Anywhere Match, a Country Whipping Match and—SPOILER ALERT—a Loser Leaves WWE Match.
Here are another five gimmick matches that should have been included. Some stipulations for matches already in place, some matches that should take place and some matches we haven't seen in a while.
First Blood
1 of 5
First off, sorry for the picture to those who dislike the sight of blood. Now on to this stipulation.
Yes, blade jobs are banned, cutting oneself is dangerous, etc.
Because of WWE's policy, wrestlers who are accidentally cut are treated immediately even if that means interrupting the match.
In this case that wouldn't happen as the first guy to bleed loses the match, thus ending it. Immediately after the match has ended the medics can work on the cut wrestler.
I know this kind of match has absolutely no chance of happening, but the PPV is called Extreme Rules and this stipulation would be a perfect fit for it.
Championship Scramble
2 of 5
There are a total of six championships in the WWE. Only two of them are going to be defended on Sunday.
A Championship Scramble would add a title match and multiple participants to the PPV.
Ideally it would be one of the secondary titles, as both the IC and the US titles are in SmackDown right now.
This is a match we haven't seen in a while and would only add 20 minutes to the event (OK, 25 including entrances).
Fatal Four Way
3 of 5
After his loss to John Morrison on RAW, R-Truth was taken off the Triple Threat Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship.
He also turned on JoMo after the match, which leads me to believe he will get involved in some capacity.
A couple of days ago I wrote an article about five ways he could get involved. This one is the most likely possibility and, in my opinion, what the WWE should do.
R-Truth should enter this match as a fourth participant, changing the stipulation of the match from a Triple Threat to a Fatal Four Way.
Mask vs. Mask/Mask vs. Hair
4 of 5
Since both men have masks and neither wants to get rid of his, they could have added the stipulation of the loser being unmasked in a Mask vs. Mask match.
Another possibility is to put something both of them hold dear on the line, for Rey it would again be his mask and for Rhodes his looks, in a Mask vs. Hair match.
Lumberjack Match
5 of 5
Sheamus (a guy I wrote about earlier today) was supposed to have a match with Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania.
It didn't happen.
The match ended up being a dark match and turned into a Battle Royal after the WWE added a Lumberjack match stipulation.
The WWE should give these men what they deserve and add this match to the PPV, and since it's Extreme Rules they can also add the WM stipulation, a Lumberjack Match.
This way both competitors get a PPV match and more wrestlers on the roster get to appear in the event.
