NFL Draft 2011: Titus Young and 10 WRs Green Bay Packers Should Target

Adam SpencerApr 20, 2011

The Green Bay Packers had one of the best wide receiver groups in the NFL last season.

Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, James Jones and Jordy Nelson did their parts to make up for the absence of tight end Jermichael Finley.

So, why is WR one of Green Bay's biggest needs in the 2011 NFL draft?

Well, for starters, Donald Driver is 36 years old and probably won't be able to contribute at a high level anymore.

Also, James Jones' future with the team is in doubt. He might go to a team where he'll be featured more prominently in the offense.

Because of that, general manager Ted Thompson needs to start replenishing the depth at the receiver position.

He can also look to add receivers like Boise State's Titus Young—guys who can contribute in the return game as well.

Here's a look at 10 WRs the Packers should take a long, hard look at in the 2011 NFL draft.

10. Scotty McKnight, Colorado

McKnight wasn't very flashy during college, but he was solid.

He had over 500 receiving yards all four years at Colorado and averaged more than five touchdowns per year.

And while he wasn't a big return man in college, he does have some experience returning punts.

For a guy who will be available at the end of the seventh round, he has a lot of potential.

9. Jordan White, Western Michigan

White racked up 1,378 yards, 94 catches and 10 touchdowns for Western Michigan in 2010.

Western Michigan? That sounds familiar, right?

It should. That's where Greg Jennings went to college.

White will be available in the seventh round.

He might be worth a shot just to see if he can be the next Greg Jennings.

8. Dane Sanzenbacher, Ohio State

Sanzenbacher had a breakout year for the Buckeyes in 2010.

He finished his senior season with 55 catches for 948 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He also showed a knack for coming up big in big games, scoring two touchdowns against Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl.

The Packers could give him a look with their first seventh-round pick.

7. Denarius Moore, Tennessee

Moore improved every year he was at Tennessee.

That's not an easy task considering how shaky the Volunteers quarterback play has been.

Moore finished 2010 with 47 catches for 981 yards and nine touchdowns.

He also has some experience returning kickoffs.

He'll be available in the fourth or fifth round.

6. Ronald Johnson, USC

Johnson is an explosive wide receiver, accumulating 692 yards on 64 catches in 2010.

His biggest contribution to the Trojans was his dynamite punt return skills.

Johnson averaged 10 yards per punt return in 2010 and returned one for a touchdown.

He could replace the valuable Tramon Williams as Green Bay's punt returner.

The Packers will likely need to use their last pick in the fourth round to get Johnson.

5. Jeremy Kerley, TCU

Kerley is everything the Packers need in a wide receiver.

He's a possession receiver who can work the middle of the field.

He also is a versatile special teams player, returning both punts and kicks at TCU.

He's a third- or fourth-round prospect, but he might just be worth it for the Packers.

4. Niles Paul, Nebraska

7 of 10

Paul is another borderline Round 3/Round 4 prospect.

He is a decent receiver, but he doesn't find the end zone very often.

That's probably more indicative of Nebraska's style of offense rather than Paul's receiving skills.

Like Kerley, Paul returns both punts and kicks, and does it well.

He'd be a good value pick for the Packers in one of the middle rounds.

3. Terrence Toliver, LSU

Toliver is a big guy.

He stands at 6'5" and weighs 200 pounds.

Pairing him up with Jermichael Finley in the red zone would give Aaron Rodgers two big targets to throw jump balls to.

As if Rodgers needs any more weapons in his offense.

For a guy likely to be available in the fifth or sixth round, Toliver is very intriguing.

2. Austin Pettis, Boise State

Pettis was a big, middle-of-the-field, possession receiver during his time at Boise State.

In the Broncos' high-powered offense, Pettis had 71 catches for 951 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2010.

He's just the guy to replace Donald Driver.

Why not give him a year or two to learn from Driver?

He's definitely worth a second-round pick.

1. Titus Young, Boise State

Young was the big-play threat who complemented Pettis' possession style at Boise State.

Young has fantastic speed and is always a threat to score.

He had 1,215 yards on 71 catches and scored nine touchdowns in 2010.

He also returns kickoffs and punts, adding even more value to his draft stock.

He'll be around in the middle of the second round if the Packers decide to trade out of the first round.
