Tom Brady Video: Future Hall of Famer Talks About His NFL Draft Experience
Chad Pennington. Giovanni Carmazzi. Chris Redman. Tee Martin. Marc Bulger. Spergon Wynn. Tom Brady.
Most likely you only remember the first, fifth and seventh names on that list; they are the quarterbacks taken in the 2000 NFL Draft that actually did something in the NFL.
Tom Brady, a future Hall of Fame quarterback, winner of three Super Bowls, two Super Bowl MVPs, two NFL MVPs and six-time Pro Bowler, still gets choked up when remembering his draft experience.
The Brady camp was "led to believe" he was going to selected in the second, possibly third round.
At No. 199, in the sixth round, the New England Patriots decided it was time to end Brady's "tough day."
He engages in a story about walking around the block with his parents around the sixth round and is overcome with emotion before being able to finish the story.
When finally talking about being selected by the Patriots, Brady's face lights up with excitement and he says, "I don't have to be an insurance salesman."
I've talked about Brady's success in the past, in fact, I even dubbed him "The Anomaly" because it is so rare for players from his draft position to make an impact at quarterback.
He closes by saying, "Thank God I got picked here."
Something tells me he is not the only one with that feeling.
