Los Angeles Clippers: Will the Clipper Curse Live On?
The 2010-11 NBA playoffs are approaching, and the Los Angeles Clippers, who have improved drastically from last season, will yet again be relegated to chewing on popcorn during the playoffs rather than competing.
With the Clippers sitting in the 13th spot in the West, Donald Sterling and the Clippers would normally be looking ahead to the lottery—and more rebuilding.
Yet the Clippers have better hopes than that—at least for the short term—because this time around they traded their first-round pick in the deal to acquire Mo Williams from the Cavaliers. Having a very solid point guard in Williams to go with Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon and Chris Kaman should push the Clippers into the playoff picture next season.
But for all who have seen the Clippers' organization over the years the term, "Clippers Curse" is something too big to be ignored and this very term will be the deciding factor on whether the Clippers break the trend of being the joke of the NBA or falling back on their usual ways, releasing big-time players for extra cash.
Clippers fans, it might be a stretch, but with prayer and a bit of luck, the "Clipper Curse" could be broken with these group of players. Griffin and Gordon have been the best thing that has happened since your last winning season and it truly would be a shame for Sterling to put them to waste.
It has been a joy ride for all NBA fans to watch this Clipper team grow to be a competitive team at times, and the potential is beyond this world for these group of guys. Curses or not let's cherish one of the most exciting Clippers teams in many years, because we might not know what we have until it's gone.
