NBA Trade Ideas: 10 Possible Trades for Deron Williams Next Season
The Final Four is this weekend.
The NBA regular season is in the process of coming to a close.
In all likely hood, the Nets will not be in the playoffs.
Deron Williams is day–to–day as of right now, still nursing an injured right wrist.
So why on earth are we talking about the New Jersey Nets and Deron Williams?
Next season is a ways away and there is no guarantee that Williams will be leaving New Jersey.
But there is no guarantee he will stay.
Let's consider who the Nets could get for the stud PG.
Tyreke Evans
1 of 10
This move could be a win–win for both teams.
The Kings are looking at a move to Anaheim from Sacramento.
In a new city with a new market, they should be looking to make a big trade to get behinds in those brand new seats.
Deron Williams is a big name All–Star. Seeing him in a Kings uniform could excite the people of Anaheim into becoming Kings fans.
And for New Jersey, coach Avery Johnson has said he is interested in building a team that will find success two or three years down the line.
Bring in one of the games best young guards and build a team around him.
Unlike Williams, Evans is not used to winning anyways. He will be more likely to stick around and be patient.
Jason Kidd

Or the Nets could go the other way and bring the New Jersey legend himself back to Newark.
If the Nets really are looking forward, a few throw away years with the future Hall of Famer, Kidd, running the team could prove invaluable for the younger players.
But mostly, this trade would benefit Kidd.
Playing for a ball club owned partly by Jay–Z at the end of his career could help revive Kidd's early 1990's hip hop aspirations.
If you have not heard "What The Kidd Did," you need to Google it immediately.
Dwyane Wade

The Heat lost to the Cavaliers 102-90 Tuesday night.
Realistically that doesn't mean much of anything, but it gives Heat skeptics like myself plenty of fire power to suggest things like trading Deron Williams for Dwyane Wade.
The Heat need a point guard. More than that, they need a point guard that is not afraid of LeBron James. Someone who will take control of the ball and make the correct plays to win games down the stretch. That could be Williams.
Unfortunately, Wade was dethroned as the king of South Beach by the king of basketball, so if one of the three are to leave, it may have to be Wade.
It would work out well for New Jersey, too. Wade plays better as the unquestioned leader of a team, and if the Nets can build a solid, young core, they could be a tough team to beat.
Carmelo Anthony

After all the hype and hoopla, New Yorkers finally got what they wanted. Carmelo Anthony is playing for the Knicks.
The Big Apple, however, is a tough fruit to pick, and though the Melo trade seemed juicy at first, it has thus far been less than refreshing.
The Knicks are something like 9–12 with Anthony in the lineup. They are looking to secure the seventh or eighth spot in the East.
New Yorkers can be an impatient bunch. They need to see immediate results from their sports teams. It's like a backlash from all those Yankee Championships. Maybe they are a bit spoiled.
What I mean is, if the Knicks don't make a run in the playoffs, with all their star power, Anthony will be blamed and the New York City press will be looking to peel the former Orangeman from the lineup.
I say send him across the river to New Jersey where he wanted to be anyway for Deron Williams.
Williams and Amar'e Stoudemire could be scary one–two punch in New York.
The Warriors Backcourt
5 of 10
Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry are two fantastic young guards.
Ellis could have, and maybe should have, been an All–Star this year. He is eighth in the league in scoring at about 24 points per game.
Curry is scoring almost 19 points a game and dishing near six assists per game.
Because neither Warrior is good enough to trade for Deron Williams straight up, the Nets could get a two-for-one deal.
The Nets would get two of the best young scoring guards in the NBA to surround Brook Lopez.
The Warriors would finally get a legit point guard. Depending how they draft this summer, this deal could get Golden State back to the playoffs.
Cleveland's Draft Pick
6 of 10
The Cleveland Cavaliers have nothing on their roster worth trading for.
They do, however, have the opportunity at receiving the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft.
Deron Williams to the Cavaliers could get New Jersey a solid young guard like Ramon Sessions and the No. 1 draft pick, Derrick Williams maybe. A versatile big man with the ability to score and defend.
Better for the Nets though would be finagling their way into getting a rookie guard like Kyrie Irving, a New Jersey native, and possibly the next great guard since John Wall.
Brandon Roy
7 of 10
The Portland Trail Blazers are looking to land somewhere between a five seed and an eight seed, depending on how they end the year.
For the past few seasons, Portland has been a decent team that ends up as one of the lower seeds come playoff time.
It's about time for a change.
Brandon Roy has been injured for most of the season and the Blazers have done pretty well without him.
Rudy Fernandez and Wesley Matthews have picked up the slack at the two and LaMarcus Aldridge has come on as the teams best player in Roy's absence.
Brandon Roy, who is still one of the best off guards in the game, could give the Nets a perimeter scoring threat and the Blazers could replace their aging point guard, Andre Miller, and give themselves a shot at a playoff run.
Danny Granger
8 of 10
What the Nets would miss most without Deron Williams is his scoring ability.
So, if they were going to trade him for anybody, they would need to get somebody who can create his own shot from the wing.
Granger is scoring 20.5 points per game this season.
At 6'8", Granger shoots the ball really well and handles it just as nicely.
Running the screen and roll with Brook Lopez or Granger from either wing would be difficult to stop.
Blake Griffin
9 of 10
If you are going to go with a youth movement New Jersey, go all the way and get the most youthful of all rookies.
Blake Griffin is one of, if not the most, exciting players in the NBA.
Newark, New Jersey is not quite the same market as Los Angeles, but isn't it better to play on the only team in Newark instead of the other team in L.A.?
Kris Humphries played well for the Nets this year but one has to wonder if he can repeat it.
Griffin is the future of the Clippers franchise, so they may not part with him so easily. But with the way players are teaming up these days, Deron Williams could be the magnet to attract other great players to the Clips.
LeBron is going to need some place to go after Miami.
Lamar Odom or Andrew Bynum?
10 of 10
There has been a lot of talk about issues with the Lakers lineup and potential trades.
If they do not win another title this year, the Lakers front office may make a drastic move to show Kobe they are as serious about winning another ring as he is.
Derek Fisher is almost 40-years-old, and though Steve Blake is a solid backup, he can't lead the Lakers to a championship.
A big trade like Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum or possibly Pau Gasol for Deron Williams would give the Lakers the best backcourt in basketball.
And for the Nets, having any of the three listed above on the block with Brook Lopez would give them an impressive, formidable, near unbeatable frontcourt.
