Kentucky Basketball Video: Watch Brandon Knight's Bucket To Beat Princeton
We are only halfway through the first round of March Madness and yet it's already just that—maddening. Yes, this is the first round. As much as NCAA broadcasters are trying to push that this is the second round, it's not.
We have already seen our fair share of upsets. Morehead State beat Louisville and Richmond beat Vanderbilt in nail-biters, and Temple and Butler barely made it out of their first-round matchups alive as well.
As for Kentucky, they were on the path towards an upset as well. Princeton, the 13th seed, had kept the game close and with 34 seconds left the two teams were tied at 57. Kentucky naturally held the ball until there were about five seconds left on the clock. That's when Brandon Knight made his move.

Knight's awful game thus far may have been why Kentucky was not winning—he had not made a shot in seven attempts. However, with five seconds left, he drove to the basket and made a perfect layup. Princeton called a timeout and ended up having a mere two seconds to get a shot off.
As I'm sure you could tell by the title, they failed to get a heave anywhere near the hoop and Kentucky won the game by two points. Unlike many games where there was cheering, there was instead a sigh of relief for Kentucky.
They had just come off winning the SEC Championship against Florida (who notched an utter blowout in their first-round matchup), so to struggle against Princeton was a concern. Yes, Princeton was a very underrated team coming into the tournament, but Kentucky was underrated as a fourth seed to begin with.
Kentucky will be facing West Virginia in the second round next, and with the way March Madness has been going, I would not be surprised if this became a back-and-forth matchup until the last second as well. As long as Brandon Knight shows up and Terrence Jones continues to perform, Kentucky should be fine in their next matchup.
