NBA Power Rankings: The 15 Nastiest Blocks of the Season Thus Far (Video)

Hayden KimJun 7, 2018

There is nothing better than watching someone come down the court full speed and then watch them only to be swatted at the other end of the court.

Players like LeBron and Dwight have made a name for themselves by holding some of the nastiest blocks in this year's season, and though we aren't quite done with the regular season, there is no doubt that there have been quite a few memorable blocks this season, and hopefully, there are more to come.

In this video slideshow, I will be posting videos of the 15 nastiest blocks so far in the season. I hope you enjoy, and as always, feel free to comment afterwards!

15. Not in My Paint Mate

It's not very impressive for a big man to swat smaller players, but Andrew Bogut showed us here why big men own the paint and why small players dare not to head into "big man" territory.

By the way, the title of this slide is based on the fact that Andrew Bogut is Australian, if that didn't make sense.

14. Superman Flies in from Behind

It hadn't even been five minutes before Dwight Howard came from behind to only swat poor little Nenad Kristic from behind.

Not only was this one of the best blocks of the season, but it was also straight embarrassment for Kristic and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

13. King James or Should We Say KryptoJames?

LeBron Blocks Dwight From Behind.

It's always fun to see a superstar block another superstar, and that is exactly what we get here in this block.

In this sequence, you can see LeBron coming from a mile away, and as soon as Dwight released the ball, everyone could see it had no chance of going in.

Who said a King couldn't compete with Superman?

12. Fans Say Hello to Ball

Deandre Jordan Swats Gerald Wallace's Shot Into The Stands

There are many discoveries made throughout the duration of a season, and one of them is Deandre Jordan's ability to not only dunk but block.

As you can see, Deandre got up on another level to give a little present to not only Wallace, but also the loyal Clipper fans.

11. Kid Can Jump

DeMar DeRozan Blocks Shaw Marion On An Attempted Dunk And Then Dunks On The Other End

We already knew that DeMar DeRozan could dunk but block? Obviously, we have been missing out on DeRozan's blocking ability.

DeRozan rose another level, as if he was walking up the stairs to swat Shawn Marion's dunk out of the sky and finished with a dunk on the other end. What more do you need?

10. Griffin Uses His Claws To Swat West

How many times have we seen Blake Griffin either posterize someone or swat a player's shot into the stands? Probably too many, but this two-handed block excited everyone to see Griffin's next big play.

Griffin comes from behind to block David West and does it with authority, using both hands and slapping the backboard in the process.

9. Headline News: Jet Hits a Wall

In recent news, a Jet hits a Wall and hits the floor. Yes, Jason Terry a.k.a. "Jet" gets rejected by John Wall at the rim, and it sent him to the floor.

Never thought I'd say this, but Wall overcame Jet. You say impossible, I say block of the night. Of course, this slide had no pun intended.

8. White Men Can't Jump?

Any remember Tyler Hansbrough making the top 10 blocks of the week? Me neither. In this sequence, Hansbrough swats a player from the Pistons and then finishes a dunk on the other end.

Whoever the player was, he must have retired because the day you get swatted by the definition of "White Men Can't Jump," your career is automatically over.

7. Deng Meets Superman

Who knows how Luol Deng survived after experiencing such a denial. Dwight Howard nearly hit his head on the backboard while swatting Deng's "shot attempt."

Somehow, Deng is still playing the game of basketball, but I'm sure Deng learned his lesson—never go near Dwight's rim ever again.

6. Road Kill: Durantula Gets Squashed by Superman

Ever heard of road kill? Well ,Dwight Howard made some with this block. As you can see, Dwight came soarin' from the paint to deny Durant's layup, also sending him to the floor in the process, creating another plate of wonderful road kill.

5. Josh Smith Gets Revenge on Danilo Gallinari

Josh Smith Denies Danilo Gallinari At The Rim

Not too long before this game, Danilo Gallinari had posterized Josh Smith on a breakaway dunk, but Smith wasn't going to take another dunk in the face. Instead, he rose up and sent Danilo Gallinari back to Italy with his authoritative block.

4. LaMarcus Aldridge Sends J.R. Smith Crying

LaMarcus sends J.R. Smith to the floor? Yes, Aldridge managed to be authoritative, not saying he isn't, but you get the hint.

After this block, J.R. Smith may want to stick to three-point shooting, nothing in the paint, which wouldn't be too hard for him.

3. Aren't Flash and Superman Allies?

Dwayne Wade, a.k.a. Flash, must have had some beef with Superman, and it clearly showed in this double-handed swat on Dwight Howard.

Like Flash in the cartoon, Wade sped up from the top of the key only to deny Howard at the rim. Sorry Superman, but Flash beat you on this one.

2. Mr. Henderson Doesn't Like People in His House

Who knew that Gerald Henderson from the Bobcats could jump so high? Well, after this nasty swat in the paint, there is no arguing Henderson's athletic ability.

If you can't see who the victim is, it's Nick Young of the Wizards, and as you can see, Henderson comes out of nowhere to greet Young at the rim.

1. Lopez Meet Mr. Humpries

15 of 15
Kris Humpries Blocks Robin Lopez
Kris Humpries Blocks Robin Lopez

This is the best block so far in the 2010-2011 NBA season. Not only did Kris Humpries (who is smaller and white), block Robin Lopez who is a borderline seven-footer, but he did it with power.

The block was so clean, it could have cleaned the dirty streets of New York. This is not arguable; this was the best block so far in the season, and let me tell you, it is going to be very hard to one-up this block.
