NBA Mock Draft 2011: Duke's Kyrie Irving and the Rest of the NBA First Round
Now that the regular season is winding down and the madness has begun to take place, that means only one thing: IT'S TIME TO MOCK DRAFT!
In this year's draft class, there are one-and-dones, international studs and experienced seniors enjoying their last tourney run. In the first half of the season, some believed that this is a weak draft class. But as the season went on, players around the country have elevated their game—and their draft stock.
This is the time of year (tournament time) unknown entities become household names and we get our first good glimpse at guys that can be suiting up for our teams next year.
Here is the entire first round of the 2011 NBA Draft.

30. San Antonio Spurs: Bojan Bogdanovic
1 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'7" / 215 lbs
Position: SG/SF
Team: Cibona
Class: International
The Spurs always seem to have luck when it comes to foreign players. The 21-year-old has the most experience out of this international pool.
| 19.3 | 4.1 | 2.7 | .535 | .4 |
29. Boston Celtics: Marshon Brooks
2 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'5" / 190 lbs
Position: SG
Team: Providence
Class: Senior
The second-leading scorer in the country, Brooks helps build towards the core of him and Green in the future.
| 24.8 | 7.2 | 2.5 | .486 | 1.3 |
28. Dallas Mavericks: Kendall Marshall
3 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'3" / 186 lbs
Position: PG
Team: North Carolina
Class: Freshman
Since he took over the starting job for Larry Drew on January 18th, UNC has posted a 12-1 record. The Mavericks can draft their heir to the Kidd point-guard thrown. It's a dream for all parties.
| 5.9 | 1.8 | 5.6 | .465 | 0 |
27. Chicago Bulls: Rick Jackson
4 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'9" / 240 lbs
Position: PF/C
Team: Syracuse
Class: Senior
Four tough Big East seasons go a long way. Jackson took over all of the rebounding responsibilities this year with no other formidable Syracuse presence down low. He does not need the ball, and can play tough minutes. His greatest weakness is that his field-goal percentage is greater than his free-throw percentage.
| 13.1 | 10.7 | 2.3 | .595 | 2.5 |
26. New Jersey Nets (from Los Angeles): Alec Burks
5 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'6" / 191 lbs
Position: SG/SF
Team: Colorado
Class: Sophomore
Burks has had big games against quality opponents (33 and 10 vs. Texas). The Nets need a big wing player with scoring and rebounding ability that can stretch the floor. He works...if Deron Williams says so.
| 19.5 | 6.2 | 2.6 | .449 | 0.3 |
25. Chicago Bulls (from Toronto Via Miami): Tobias Harris
6 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'8" / 210 lbs
Position: SF
Team: Tennessee
Class: Freshman
Harris is a young athletic swingman that the Bulls can bring in to back up Deng.
| 14.7 | 7.5 | 1.4 | .449 | 0.9 |
24. Oklahoma City: Nolan Smith
7 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'3" / 185 lbs
Position: PG/SG
Team: Duke
Class: Senior
One of the leading candidates for Player of the Year, Smith would fit nicely in OKC. He could play either guard position, and can create his own shot. With such a young yet competitive team, management should pursue players that are both experienced and can fit roles well.
| 21.6 | 4.8 | 5.2 | .470 | 0.1 |
23. Phoenix Suns (from Orlando Magic): Jordan Williams
8 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'10" / 260 lbs
Position: PF/C
Team: Maryland
Class: Sophomore
The Suns get the third-leading rebounder in the country and a physically imposing figure. He may not be leaving College Park yet, but he is making noise in the ACC and improving each year.
| 16.9 | 11.6 | 0.5 | .541 | 1.3 |
22. Denver Nuggets: Tristan Thompson
9 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'8" / 233 lbs
Position: PF
Team: Texas
Class: Freshman
Thompson needs to have a good tournament in order to keep himself in the first round. The Nuggets will need to replace Kenyon Martin, who will most likely not be back. He is raw, but Denver is a well-coached veteran team.
| 13.5 | 7.7 | 1.3 | .540 | 2.3 |
21. Charlotte Bobcats (from Portland Via New Orleans): JaJuan Johnson
10 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'10" / 215 lbs
Position: PF/C
Team: Purdue
Class: Senior
This high flying senior is what the Bobcats need—youth, energy and the ability and desire to attack the rim.
| 20.5 | 8.1 | 1 | .497 | 2.4 |
20. Washinton Wizards (from Atlanta Hawks): Markieff Morris
11 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'9" / 230 lbs
Position: PF
Team: Kansas
Class: Junior
In addition to getting more wing scoring, the Wizards need better inside play. Morris needs to be more consistent, but the talent and experience are there.
| 13.5 | 8.3 | 1.5 | .598 | 1.2 |
19. Portland Trailblazers: Brandon Knight
12 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'4" / 185 lbs
Position: PG
Team: Kentucky
Class: Freshman
Knight is a big-time point guard and is getting better every day. The Trailblazers will need a new point guard and they will be more than happy to roll out the red carpet for this guy.
| 17.7 | 4 | 4 | .449 | 0.3 |
18. Memphis Grizzlies: Kenneth Faried
13 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'8" / 215 lbs
Position: PF
Team: Morehead State
Class: Senior
If and when the Grizzlies let Zach Randolph walk, there will be a huge rebounding void. Faried has made his living on the boards in his four years at Morehead State. He would be a nice value pick for a team that might lose their best rebounder.
| 17.6 | 14.5 | 1.1 | .644 | 2.4 |
17. New York Knicks: Josh Selby
14 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'1" / 180 lbs
Position: SG
Team: Kansas
Class: Freshman
Selby could not play the first nine games of the season for taking improper benefits. This should not deter the Knicks from selecting this young point guard, who can learn from Billups and take his time in the Knicks' system.
| 9.6 | 2.4 | 2.7 | .387 | 0.1 |
16. Philadelphia 76ers: Jan Vesley
15 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'11" / 240 lbs
Position: SF/PF
Team: Belgrade
Class: International
Vesely is only 20 years old and has yet to play any real competition. That being said, he works great in transition and has great leaping abilities. The 76ers need more athletic bigs; Vesely fits the bill.
| 9.2 | 3.4 | 1.1 | .510 | 0.8 |
15. Indiana Pacers: Marcus Morris
16 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'9" / 225 lbs
Position: PF
Team: Kansas
Class: Junior
The Pacers need big men. He has size, toughness and works well under the basket. Sounds like a match.
| 17.3 | 7 | 1.5 | .597 | 0.6 |
14. Phoenix Suns: Jordan Hamilton
17 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'7" / 215 lbs
Position: SF
Team: Texas
Class: Sophomore
An explosive talent that will be the heir to the Vince Carter/Grant Hill experiment. He is versatile, quick and has played at the highest level against some of the nation's toughest competition.
| 18.5 | 7.6 | 2.2 | .437 | 0.6 |
13. Utah Jazz: Jimmer Fredette
18 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'2" / 195 lbs
Position: PG
Team: BYU
Class: Senior
One of the nation's most talked-about players, Fredette provides the Jazz with more shooting and experience. He fits into the Steph Curry mold of a guy that learned to create his own shot and can drain baskets from the moon. A BYU standout, he would fit nicely at home with the Utah Jazz.
| 27.9 | 3.5 | 4.3 | .455 | 0 |
12. Houston Rockets: Jonas Valanciunas
19 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'10" / 230 lbs
Position: PF/C
Team: Lithuania
Class: International
The Rockets will now have to move on from the Yao Ming era. Valanciunas is big and talented, but very raw and untested. The Rockets will have to teach him to play the game, and wait for him to bulk up, before he will be ready for big minutes.
| 7.6 | 5.4 | 0.2 | .700 | .6 |
11. Golden State Warrios: Kawhi Leonard
20 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'7" / 225 lbs
Position: SF/PF
Team: San Diego St.
Class: Sophomore
Leonard is the type of player the Warriors like. He is fast, athletic and can shoot the ball well. His biggest impact on the team would be his rebounding. The Warriors have not been able to get a guy that really clicks with the offense that also rebounds the ball well. This may be their guy.
| 15.2 | 10.8 | 2.6 | .433 | 0.6 |
10. Charlotte Bobcats: Kemba Walker
21 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'0" / 180 lbs
Position: PG
Team: UConn
Class: Junior
Walker has been one of the nation's best guards all season. He has the ability to take over games, while also distributing the basketball and making his teammates better. The Bobcats have been trying to improve their point-guard play all season, and Walker provides the best upgrade possible for a team that needs scoring.
| 23.1 | 5.2 | 4.3 | .426 | 0.2 |
9. Milwaukee Bucks: John Henson
22 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'10" / 200 lbs
Position: PF
Team: North Carolina
Class: Sophomore
Henson has had at least 10 rebounds in 10 out of his last 11 games. The Tar Heels have won the ACC title on the back of their young guys, and Henson's contributions have been key. The Bucks need rebounding; Bogut needs help on the boards and their other big men are prone to playing behind the three-point line.
| 11.3 | 9.7 | 0.9 | .514 | 3.1 |
8. Cleveland Cavaliers (from Los Angeles Clippers): Donatas Motiejunas
23 of 30
Ht/Wt: 7'0" / 224 lbs
Position: PF/C
Team: Lithuania
Class: International
Donatas Motiejunas is one of two 7'0'' centers from Lithuania in this year's draft. He can shoot the outside jumper and has displayed nice post moves. The Cavaliers need an inside presence to go with Hickson and potential first overall pick Irving.
| 12.3 | 5.6 | .7 | .472 | 1.1 |
7. Detroit Pistons: Enes Kanter
24 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'11" / 250 lbs
Position: PF/C
Team: N/A (Turkey)
Class: Freshman
Kanter was ruled ineligible to play for Kentucky this season. He was one of the most-highly recruited players in the country and despite not playing this season, has been considered a sure-fire lottery pick.
Some might be weary of the uncertainty of the pick, seeing that he has not played competitively in a while. But the Pistons need an inside presence and young blood to help rebuild.
6. Utah Jazz (from New Jersey): Terrence Jones
25 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'8" / 225 lbs
Position: SF
Team: Kentucky
Class: Freshman
Another Kentucky super freshman. He is 6'8", can slash to the hoop and hit the outside jumper. The Jazz have big men and point guards, but no Carmelo Anthony-type scorer. They get their man with Jones.
| 17.1 | 9.2 | 1.8 | .447 | 1.9 |
5. Toronto Raptors: Jared Sullinger
26 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'8" / 250 lbs
Position: PF
Team: Ohio State
Class: Freshman
The biggest hole for the Toronto Raptors is toughness inside. Amir Johnson (and his contract), Ed Davis and Reggie Evans (when healthy) make up a nice platoon. But when you can put the skill sets off all three into one player, you cannot pass it up. Sullinger is this package. His only downside is his lack of height for the position he will be playing in the pros.
| 17.3 | 9.7 | 1.2 | .557 | 0.5 |
4. Washington Wizards: Derrick Williams
27 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'7" / 210 lbs
Position: SF
Team: Arizona
Class: Sophomore
He is one of the most exciting, explosive players in the country. He can get up with the best of them, and would be a nice toy for John Wall to play with for years to come.
| 18.8 | 8.2 | 1.1 | .612 | 0.7 |
3. Sacramento Kings: Perry Jones
28 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'11" / 220 lbs
Position: PF
Team: Baylor
Class: Freshman
His team has been average in a very competitive Big XII conference, but Perry has shown he can play with the big guys. He has a Derrick Favors mold, and will probably jump for the NBA draft, despite some inconsistencies.
| 13.9 | 7.2 | 1.2 | .549 | 0.9 |
2. Minnesota Timberwolves: Harrison Barnes
29 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'8" / 210 lbs
Position: SG/SF
Team: North Carolina
Class: Freshman
Barnes has come on very strong for the Tar Heels in his last seven games (all wins). Since losing to Duke on February 9th, he has been one of UNC's best performers, as he has hit several game winners and showed NBA scouts that he is a legit scoring threat. The Timberwolves need good wing play to complement Love down low.
| 14.1 | 5.6 | 1.4 | .406 | 0.4 |
1. Cleveland Cavaliers: Kyrie Irving
30 of 30
Ht/Wt: 6'1" / 172 lbs
Position: PG/SG
Team: Duke
Class: Freshman
Duke won all eight games he played in before going down with injury. He is a great talent, a great scorer and can get to the line. He is a game-changer and a player to build a franchise around.
