North Carolina Vs. Duke: Tar Heels Drill Duke, Win ACC Regular Season Title
Kendall Marshall started the year as a back-up while Harrison Barnes was a disappointment for most of the first-half of the season.
But, Marshall and Barnes led the charge tonight, as North Carolina (24-6, 14-2 ACC) drilled Duke (27-4, 13-3 ACC) 81-67.
The win gave Roy Williams and the Tar Heels the 2010-11 ACC regular season championship.
UNC has now won this title 35 times in school history.
Let's take a lightning-fast look at who came up big and how North Carolina took hold of this monster win.
Kendall Marshall
1 of 4
Kendall Marshall aggressively forced the action from the opening tip.
Rather than sitting back and waiting for things to happen, the freshman point guard pushed the pace and got into the lane all night long.
Marshall scored 15 points and handed out 11 assists.
This was Marshall's first collegiate double-double.
The Tar Heels are 12-1 since Marshall became a starter, including seven straight wins.
Harrison Barnes
2 of 4
Harrison Barnes' confidence continues to grow, and his on-the-court performance has absolutely taken off.
Barnes scored 18 points on 7-17 shooting and grabbed five rebounds.
This was the 21st time that Barnes has scored at least 10 points or more this season.
John Henson
3 of 4
John Henson played an exceptional game, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
This was Henson's ninth straight double-double (12th for the season), something no Tar Heel had done since Mitch Kupchak in 1976 -- not Tyler Hansbrough, not Sean May, not Rasheed Wallace or Sam Perkins or James Worthy.
Duke was limited to one shot per possession most of the night, with Henson either challenging the shots or going after the rebounds.
Tyler Zeller
4 of 4
Tyler Zeller is the other half of the Tar Heels' frontcourt "Dynamic Duo."
Zeller scored 14 points on 7-11 shooting.
He also grabbed five rebounds.
His game was not "loud" but it was effective.
