Hey, Detroit! Point the Fingers at Joe Dumars for Pistons Casualty
The welfare of General Motors is amid restoration of hope and growth. It almost financially relapsed, theย best automaker inย Americaย in the middle of an economic downturn, but lately, sales virtually increased.
It's quite wonderful that GM has survived theย catastrophe, unlikeย one of the dumbfounded sports franchises in the NBA, located in the Motor City. Brand-wise, it's utterly soothing to recognize thatย Buick is respectively raising in sale rates. That's not true for theย Detroit Pistons, an NBA team sadlyย defacedย byย the helplessness of bewildered and stubborn-minded executives in the front office.

LeBron's decision halting NBA's schedule release
This spells trouble for the Pistons, damnedย by presidentย Joe Dumars'ย poor decisions.ย Although he vowed to becomeย aย masterfulย team executive,ย turningย Detroit into a relevant contenderย last decade when theย renaissance eraย created a sense of humanity in a town that had experienced sportsย woes,ย he could have lost control of the franchise he once builtย a foundation forย as a mastermind.
Under these circumstances, he's lost control of the Pistons, which sadly poisonsย Detroit and smothers any postseason dreams untilย theย frequent problems of unhappiness in the locker room amongย the coaching staff and team playersย is resolved.
What the Pistons have is absurdlyย tumultย and perhaps distress which isย preventable, only if he demands controlย with hisย louder voice to end the churlish feuds and moodiness, the type ofย quarrelย that could actuallyย divide a group of playersย andย destroy morale.
In the last week, sevenย Pistons players bailed on second-year coach John Kuesterย onย Friday and reportedly staged a boycott of the team's shootaround to expressย theirย unhappinessย with an unnoticed coach. It's not aย sign ofย good news, but a sign of disdain and negligence for a head coach withย obviously noย principlesย or advice to transcend the proper standards as a well-respected leader.
The state of the Pistons dysfunction is anything but intact orย healthy for moving forward, and it's on the fringe of disastrous matters ifย Dumarsย refuse to dismissย Kuester.ย The level of disappointmentย entirely throughout the Pistons organization is awful, particularly when each player on the teamย reaches a palpable level of mutual aversion towards the man in control, a problem that could present more issues if the players aren't listeningย to his suggestions on the floor.
Kuester was ignored greatly in prior games and, on other occasions, was unnoticed in shootaround and practices. But even more so, unsurprisingly, heย has an ireful relationship withย the disgruntled Rip Hamilton ever sinceย heย benchedย himย in lateย January, an ongoing feud that forced the Pistons players to evoke a boycott. Profoundly embedded inย stupidity, hisย image is shattered for the bad publicity in the news, unprofessionallyย boycotting the shootaroundย in attempt to send a point across to Dumars.ย
After all this, of course, itย disunified the Pistons andย the insubordination clearly defined the players asย the bad boys of Detroit and Dumars as the weakest link, unwilling toย regain the upper hand beforeย theย organization easily falls apart. The turbulenceย causes mood swingsย on the Pistons roster,ย even more soย last weekย when the Pistons basically quit on theirย coach in efforts to provoke the firing of Kuester in a protestย Hamilton and Tracy McGradyย allegedly plotted and inspired half of the roster to miss out on shootaround.
This is merely a blameworthyย incident onย Dumars' behalf, which doesn'tย overshadow the saboteur,ย someone responsible for the plights overย the last few seasons.ย He was a mad genius at one pointย during his tenure. He wasย the architect of considerablyย the Pistonsย unbelievable achievementsย in franchise history, and accumulated six consecutive appearances in the Eastern Conference finals from 2003 to 2008 and wonย an unforeseen NBA championship in 2004.
He masterfully built the essentials of star power, fame and creativity with his brilliant maneuvers, amazinglyย relieving the doubt of failure, improving upon the NBA toย embark on postseason quests and an eventualย celebration in the championship. The result, for a general manager,ย wasย that he protected his job status and had been the properย voice to elicit any personnel decisions, but now, it's a different result as he suddenly languishes.
The latest slip upsย jeopardize his job security, from the riftย withย Hamilton and Kuester, additional conflict that exploded and transformed the players' attitudes when Hamilton erupted in a verbal attack with Kuester during practice, describing his coach as a failure.
It's not easy to dismiss the lack of professionalism andย the destruction, especially when Hamilton isย the highest-paidย Piston. It wasย uncalled for to hearย a team captain lack common sense andย act inappropriately, no matter what he thinks of his coach, no matter if heย feelsย Kuester isย inflamingย rage among his teammates.
How often do you hear aย story thisย awful??
Not often do we hear a story like this one, simplyย becauseย professional teamsย are carefulย in allowingย feudsย of beingย broadcasted publicly.ย As for Hamilton, he's the focal point inย this uproar of activity,ย ridiculedย forย foolishlyย being the problem-child, not the veteran leader of aย team in need of direction and guidance, but instead petulantย over a pity altercation between him and Kuester.
It's very hard, in hindsight,ย with theย lack of professionalism, theย lack of urgency and theย lack of wisdom, not toย blame Dumars for the dismal collapse in a decline of late. Back when he was conservative, back when he was fineย in taking a risk, flashing back to the moment he selected Darko Milicic with the second overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and passed on Carmelo Anthony, a mistake that stillย is agonizing to the Pistons.
In everything from awful draft picks to hiring coachesย on a regular basis, Kuester happens to be the Pistons third coach inย six seasons. Kuester, meanwhile, is the second unworthy coach thatย Dumars has hired, for some weird reason committing to coaches with thin resumes. The peripheral grudges,ย without any altruismย by the way the fansย or players may feel,ย hasn't channeledย Dumars' attention to emotionally terminate Kuester,ย and instead he released a statement that said he was "in full support" of Kuester.ย
Because it's rare for the teamย presidentย to defend a coach, by reputation, his explanation isย baffling and it would be idiotic toย hold on to a head coach thatย no oneย admires playing for, no one listens to, and lastly, no one respects whatsoever. If Kuester returns next season, it would be very shocking.
It's evident thatย Dumarsย seriously needs to hire a new coach to begin next season on a positive note. Whereย Dumars flubbed soย hopelessly is when he traded Chaunceyย Billups, the centerpiece of the Pistons' fruition in recent memory, for a rebelliousย Allenย Iverson, who instantly sabotaged the dynamics with his selfishness andย egoism by quitting on the Pistons after Curry told him that he wasn't a starter but a second-unit player.
That led to the firing of Michaelย Curry, aย mentor for many of the players,ย which wasย aย stunning departure.ย A startled Dumars cost the Pistons immensely, when he never pulled the trigger on a deal that would have sentย Rodney Stuckey,ย Tayshaun Prince and Hamilton to the Celtics for Rayย Allen and Rajon Rondo before the 2009 season.
Theย voice in the front office,ย such is Dumars,ย turned down the deal unbelievably toย ignite another setback, and then he dealt Rasheed Wallace in 2004, an ingredientย for the Pistons championship pursuit. Assuming he can survive and flourish with a pair of young players, he signed Ben Gordonย and Charlie Villanueva to lucrative contracts in 2009, but needlesslyย squanderedย aย combine $100 million on two role players. Ifย Dumars has a sense of pride, he would step downย immediately and shield hisย reputation. ย ย ย ย
If several players were seenย taunting and laughingย whileย a game was in processย when Kuester was ejected, on a teamย with no chemistry andย remains dispirited withย the headย coach, it's specifically a foregone conclusion that he's at the end of his tenure, a termย ending all so miserably just as much as Dumars.ย ย
