NBA: Will Chauncey Billups Ever Suit Up for the Knicks?
As many of you didn't know, point guard Chauncey Billups was traded by the Denver Nuggets to the New York Knicks this week (the first part is sarcasm, folks).
Billups has made it clear that he does not want to play for the Knicks. Instead, the Colorado native wanted to end his professional career with his hometown Nuggets.
That was not the case as the point guard currently resides in the Big Apple.
The main question now is: Will he even suit up for the Knicks, or will he be dealt again before the trade deadline?
I'm fairly confident when I say that Billups won't suit up for the Carmelo-Amare Show. The point guard has expressed his frustrations with the Nuggets, as he clearly did not want to get traded.
The Nuggets went as far as to apologize to Billups for trading him.

Nuggets executive Josh Kroenke told reporters, "I want to offer a personal apology to the Billups family. They mean the world to me personally, and I know that Chauncey means everything to Denver. And when I say Denver, I mean just Denver basketball on every level. He is Denver basketball. He was a high school star here, he was a college star here, he was a professional star here. It was an incredibly tough decision to include him in this trade."
Masai Ujiri, another executive, added, ""It was hard. This trade took this long because of Chauncey. We tried every way not to include him in this trade. It's one of the most difficult things. What a great professional, what a great person, what a great family. He will always be welcome in Denver, and he knows that."
As far as I know, it doesn't happen that often that a team would apologize to one of its players for trading him.
So, with that being said, what exactly will happen to Billups?
Personally, I think he will be traded or bought out.
It's clear-cut that he doesn't want to play in New York.
Billups has already said that he would want a buyout if traded to New Jersey. What makes New York any different? Even though he'd be playing with two of the biggest superstars in the league, Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire, it doesn't replace the fact that he would rather stay in Denver.
The most likely scenario is that he gets bought out.
He wants to return to Denver, point blank, period.
Raymond Felton wants out of Denver, too. He doesn't want to play behind Ty Lawson. Head coach George Karl has already stated that he would start Lawson over Felton. So, Felton may be moving again before the trade deadline.
I just think that if Felton is traded, Billups gets bought out and returns to the Nuggets.
He has already said that he wants to end his historic career in Denver and he wouldn't be unhappy anywhere else. I don't think he would want to be in any other city except Denver.
Now, if he gets traded, there are a lot of scenarios that could fall into place.
Teams such as Portland, Dallas, Houston and others are trying to move their respected point guards, so Billups can get traded again.
But it all boils down to Billups' decision to play or not. The Knicks would rather trade him than buy him out, so they can actually get something out of it.
If they trade him, they get someone of equal value. If they buy him out, they lose a disgruntled former All-Star point guard and get nothing in return.
It seems to be Denver or bust. If he can't play in Denver, he won't play. Simple as that.
But we will see what happens. The trade deadline is right around the corner.
