NBA Trade Speculation: Bulls Trade Struggling Johnson, but Is Bogans Next?
When the Chicago Bulls got rid of under-performing forward James Johnson for a first-round pick, fans immediately started salivating over who the Bulls could scoop up before Thursday's trade deadline.
The Bulls have been weak at the shooting guard position all season with Keith Bogans at the helm. His offensive output has been almost non-existent, and many Bulls fans are growing restless with the defensive-oriented guard.
The Bulls have long been linked to J.R. Smith, Courtney Lee, Anthony Parker and O.J. Mayo as possible trade targets. All of these players at least double Bogans' offensive output, but will they fit into the Bulls' chemistry, which is as strong as any team in the NBA.
Courtney Lee is the best fit, in my opinion. He plays hard and has not been known to cause problems within an organization.
I feel that Lee's numbers would rise a bit if he were to join the Bulls due to the fact that he would be on the court with Derrick Rose, a player who could attract attention from the opposing defense and get open shots for Lee whenever he gets double-teamed.
Adding Anthony Parker would be choice No. 2, in my opinion. Yet again, he has not been known to be a distraction and can shoot from the outside as well as anyone on the Bulls current roster.
Lastly, adding either J.R. Smith or O.J. Mayo are the highest possible upgrades when you compare them to Bogans, talent-wise, but with the distractions that Mayo has had of late and their higher-than-cap-space salaries, acquiring one of these two fairly unlikely.
As I have stated before, I think the current Bulls roster, when healthy, can rival any team in the NBA.
Making a move this late in the season could prove to be detrimental to Chicago's chemistry, blowing them off track in the race to have a deep playoff run.
