WWE: 10 Potential Story Lines for The Viper Randy Orton

Orton debuted on SmackDown on April 25, 2002 as a fan favorite. However, his stay on SmackDown did not last long as he was drafted to the Raw roster in September.

Not long after Orton was moved to Raw, he was sidelined with a shoulder injury, but was still kept on television in a non-wrestling role. It was this time that Orton became a heel for the first time. After Orton’s shoulder healed, he joined the stable Evolution with Flair, Triple H and Batista. The stable made Orton and Batista household names. 

Orton then became the ‘Legend Killer’, a younger star who could defeat any legend he challenged. This gimmick took him to a new level as a performer and continued to keep people interested in him.

At the 2004 SummerSlam, Orton made history by becoming the youngest WWE champion at the age of 24. He was then kicked out of Evolution, and once again, became a fan favorite.

Orton remained as a face for several months before turning heel again after he RKO’ed his on-screen girlfriend, Stacy Keibler.

Over the years that followed, Orton formed a tag team with Edge and went on to win the Tag-Team Championship. Orton won the WWE Championship again and had feuds with John Cena, Jeff Hardy and The Undertaker.

Orton then became the leader of the Stable Legacy. Orton, along with Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, were known as the third generation group of wrestlers. They were seen as the future of WWE. However, the group disbanded after WrestleMania 26 after Orton defeated Cody and Ted in a triple threat match. Since then Orton has been one of the top faces on the Raw roster. 

He has faced some of the best wrestlers in the industry, so it leaves you to wonder what’s left for Orton to accomplish? Who is left for him to face? What storylines has he not done?

10. Evan Bourne

To some, it may seem like a random person to face, but I could see Orton and Bourne having really good chemistry in the ring!

9. John Morrison

Orton vs. Morrison would be a match in heaven! I think they could really bounce off each other well.

8. Ted DiBiase and Maryse

Here’s an idea for a storyline. Orton could tease Ted that he has not accomplished much since Legacy’s split, apart from seducing Maryse. Then over the next couple of weeks, Orton seduces Maryse and Ted snaps. Yes, the storyline is a cliché, but is that such a bad thing if it works?

7. Move to SmackDown

Orton has spent most of his career on Raw. Maybe it’s time for a change?

6. Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero

I would love to see Orton wind up Vickie and Dolph!

5. Drew McIntyre

I could actually seem them being a tag team. I am not sure why, but I could.

4. Christian

I think these two could put on some amazing matches.

3. Booker T

Booker T needs someone who can step up to his level, and who better than Orton?

I think these two could make a really good on screen couple. They both have a bad streak to them and I think they would work well together.

SmackDown’s upcoming star wont be able to rise to the top unless he fights one of the top wrestlers in the company.
