LeBron James and the Most Ferocious Dunker From Every Team
SportsCenter loves to honor them, fans lose their minds over them and the NBA's favorite play, the slam dunk, takes all of about three seconds to happen.
We have seen some really powerful dunkers in recent years and this season is no different.
Blake Griffin is a human highlight reel, Dwight Howard still dunks with the best of them and Amar'e Stoudemire has brought some energy and firepower back to the Garden.
Some teams have more than one guy that can really rock the rim while others are fortunate to simply have one.
Every team does have at least one though and here is a look at the most ferocious dunker on each and every NBA team.
Atlanta Hawks: Josh Smith
1 of 30The Atlanta Hawks are still trying to find a way to rise above the rest of the competition at the top of the Eastern Conference but Josh Smith can fly above all of them.
The Hawks have a few other players that can throw it down, but none as ferociously as Josh Smith.
He has improved his shot selection in recent seasons and does not fire up as many ridiculous threes as he used to, but we still love it when he goes to the hole.
Boston Celtics: Paul Pierce
2 of 30The Celtics have the best record in the East. Although some of their stars may be aging, they are still dominant and can still throw it down pretty hard too.
Shaq and KG know how to rattle the rim from up close but it is their fearless leader, Paul Pierce, who can bring the ferocity down the lane.
Watch Pierce go up and over two Raptor defenders and you'll see what I mean.
Charlotte Bobcats: Gerald Wallace
3 of 30The Bobcats are still in the hunt at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, but that won't make Michael Jordan happy.
Gerald Wallace has been the center of many trade rumors, but that has not affected him when he goes to the basket.
Wallace likes to get after the rim and can really fly through the air and still bring power.
Watch him go baseline here and leave everyone behind.
Chicago Bulls: Derrick Rose
4 of 30The Bulls point guard is one of the fiercest dunkers in the game.
He has teammates that are bigger and stronger but nobody in Chicago, and possibly the league, can elevate the way this kid can.
Rose has made many defenders look stupid so far this season and it does not look like it is going to stop.
The Bulls are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, which means we will get to watch Rose posterize people in the playoffs too.
Cleveland Cavaliers: J.J. Hickson
5 of 30The Cavaliers are in a world of hurt this season and there is not much that anyone can say to make them feel better.
The loss of LeBron James has decimated this team—but at least J.J. Hickson can dunk the basketball well.
Here we see him elevate and hang in the air for a few seconds before thundering home a slam on top of the Nets.
If you're a Cavs fan, there is not a lot to be excited about—but that is a serious dunk.
Dallas Mavericks: Tyson Chandler
6 of 30Tyson Chandler has been a huge spark for the Dallas Mavericks this season.
Even after suffering the loss of Caron Butler, Dallas is still the No. 2 team in the Western Conference and Chandler is a big reason why.
He's the youngest of the Mavs starters and shows it with his ability to rattle the rim.
Denver Nuggets: J.R. Smith
7 of 30J.R. Smith might simply be the best dunker in the league.
The Nuggets' big story this season is obviously the Carmelo Anthony trade saga, but every time Smith gets to the rim its a pretty big deal.
He can fly, he can elevate and he can rock the rim as hard as anyone jumping around on hardwood.
Watch him beat the first quarter buzzer from a few feet inside the free-throw line.
Detroit Pistons: Tayshaun Prince
8 of 30Things are a mess in Detroit this season and they need to fix some things quickly.
Tayshaun Prince could be moved by the trade deadline, but it's rather unlikely.
If he stays in Detroit at least they'll be treated to crowd-pleasing dunks like this over the Knicks' Danilo Gallinari.
Golden State Warriors: Monta Ellis
9 of 30Mona Ellis doesn't stop.
He plays almost 42 minutes per game, averages 25 points, 5.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds.
Ellis also knows how to make defenders look stupid when he jumps over them and rocks the rim.
Like too many of these highlights, this one is also against the Knicks.
Houston Rockets: Jordan Hill
10 of 30The underachieving Houston Rockets are a disappointing story and Jordan Hill has not lived up to his billing as a No. 8 overall pick—but he can do some exciting things around the rim though.
Hill is getting better and as long as he doesn't forget how to do this, it won't matter to fans.
At 6'10", Hill can almost always bring the thunder like nobody else on the Houston roster.
Indiana Pacers: Josh McRoberts
11 of 30The Pacers are scratching the bottom of the Eastern Conference playoff race and could see some serious changes around the deadline.
Indiana has a couple of guys that like to get to the rim, but not many of them can do it like Josh McRoberts.
The former Duke Blue Devil can really bring some pain at 6'10" and 240 pounds.
Watch him thunder down an alley-oop on the Kings here.
Los Angeles Clippers: Blake Griffin
12 of 30The one-man highlight reel in Los Angeles is rookie Blake Griffin and nobody throws it down like him in the NBA.
He actually has some good competition from teammates DeAndre Jordan and Eric Gordon, but Griffin still excites crowds like no other player.
The rookie All-Star will be competing in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest.
Los Angeles Lakers: Shannon Brown
13 of 30It's tough to put anyone over Kobe Bryant in any category, but Shannon Brown can dunk the basketball with insane force.
He can elevate above opponents or fly by them on the way to the basket.
Watching Shannon Brown dunk can bring any crowd to its feet.
Memphis Grizzlies: Rudy Gay
14 of 30Rudy Gay's athleticism is unquestionable and his ability to make defenders look stupid is awesome.
The Grizzlies have a few other athletic dunkers but none like Rudy Gay.
He got a lot of money this offseason and while he may or may not be earning it all, he can certainly dunk the basketball with some force.
Miami Heat: LeBron James
15 of 30This man needs no introduction or explanation.
Dwayne Wade is a close second, but LeBron is still the dunking king of the NBA in a lot of books.
His overall size, athletic ability and speed are near impossible to stop and he can blow the doors off of any arena when he gets to the rim.
Milwaukee Bucks: Larry Sanders
16 of 30The Bucks are hard to choose from when it comes to dunking ability and power.
Andrew Bogut gets a lot of opportunities around the rim, but when Larry Sanders is on the court he has the ability to bring the house down.
Here we can see him finishing off a fast break with a powerful alley-oop.
Minnesota Timberwolves: Corey Brewer
17 of 30The Timberwolves have a lot of young talent on the court and a lot of them can get after the rim.
Michael Beasley, Kevin Love and Wesley Johnson all have their fair share of highlights, but it is Corey Brewer that can pound it home the loudest.
Here you can see Brewer stuff home two basketballs in a matter of 20 seconds.
New Jersey Nets: Kris Humphries
18 of 30The New Jersey Nets do not have a lot to boast about as of late, but having Kim Kardashian at the games certainly cannot hurt.
She's only there because of Kris Humphries and fortunately for New Jersey he can dunk the basketball.
Here we can see him attack the rim and play garbage man all at once—I'm sure Kim loved it.
New Orleans Hornets: Trevor Ariza
19 of 30The Hornets may not always be happy with Trevor Ariza, but he can certainly be an exciting player to watch.
On a team with a few big guys that can throw down the basketball, it's the guard that does it with the most force.
Here we can see him get into the paint and just go right through another player on this list—that is a thunderous dunk from Ariza.
New York Knicks: Amar'e Stoudemire
20 of 30The All-Star Knicks forward has brought back life to Madison Square Garden and every time he gets close to the rim people get excited.
Amar'e and his glasses have played MVP-caliber basketball so far this season and he is easily the Knicks' most ferocious dunker.
Amar'e and the Garden crowd are just getting acquainted—this could become a great relationship.
Oklahoma City Thunder: Russell Westbrook
21 of 30The Thunder are one of the most dynamic and exciting teams in the league and while Kevin Durant is their big gun, Russell Westbrook is not far behind.
The point guard is incredibly fast and can get up near the rim as quickly as any.
He doesn't stop there though—he can rock the rim with a ton of force as well.
Orlando Magic: Dwight Howard
22 of 30The Magic have a few players that can throw down the basketball, but none are as dominant as "Superman" himself.
Whether off a rebound, on a put back or off the dribble, Dwight Howard is almost always going to bring the pain.
He's also quite adept at following cleanly on the receiving end of an alley-oop—see for yourself.
Philadelphia 76ers: Andre Iguodala
23 of 30This Philadelphia 76er is almost always in the center of trade controversy, but that does not seem to affect his playmaking ability on the court.
He has a ton of athleticism and can make almost any play look easy.
Whether off his own dribble or catching a pass in the lane, Iguodala always brings the thunder.
Phoenix Suns: Vince Carter
24 of 30The Suns are another one of the toughest teams to choose from. Although Vince Carter certainly is not the jumper he once was, he still deserves enough credibility to be on this list.
He can still get after the rim and jump through the roof at times.
When Carter dusts off his younger legs and takes flight, it is certainly a sight to see.
Portland Trail Blazers: LaMarcus Aldridge
25 of 30The Portland Trail Blazers have a few nice, young players—but none more exciting than LaMarcus Aldridge.
Unfortunately, they may not be able to handle things in the postseason, but at least we'll be able to see Aldridge bring some pain towards the rim for an extra week or two.
He gets along well with his teammates too, as shown here with this alley-oop.
Sacramento Kings: DeMarcus Cousins
26 of 30The Kings have two big-time, young players in Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins. But when it comes to shaking the rim, it is all on the rookie from Kentucky.
Cousins still has a lot to learn, but brings a ton of force towards the basket when he gets the opportunity.
There are not many reasons to watch the Kings, but he is certainly one of them.
San Antonio Spurs: DeJuan Blair
27 of 30The Spurs are old and do not have many people taking heavy flight, but they too have a most ferocious dunker.
DeJuan Blair, although undersized in the post, can make some damaging plays down low and defenders know all about it.
For what seems like the 10th time, the Knicks are on the receiving end of this Blair dunk.
Toronto Raptors: DeMar DeRozan
28 of 30The Toronto Raptors have some athletic youngsters, but it is DeMar DeRozan that attracts the most attention.
The youngster has a ton of athletic ability and has no problem going to the basket in the face of defenders.
His reach and elevation are tough to stop as evidenced by his "dunkathon" above.
Utah Jazz: Deron Williams
29 of 30Deron Williams may be a point guard but that doesn't stop him from attacking the basket like a power forward.
Williams is one of the few players on his team that can jump, but he seems to bring the most pain to opponents when he gets inside.
Whether it's because he plays with fire or because he really does have that much force, Williams is the Jazz's most ferocious dunker.
Washington Wizards: JaVale McGee
30 of 30The Wizards were another tough selection as rookie John Wall can certainly get up and bring it down. However, dunk competitor JaVale McGee is their most ferocious dunker.
He's big, can get up and throws it down with a ton of force.
Here we see Wall setting up the big man and McGee kindly gets him the assist.
