NBA Trade Rumors: Carmelo Anthony to New York Knicks a Done Deal?
Rumors of Carmelo Anthony's departure from Denver have come full circle since the beginning of the 2010-11 NBA basketball season. It seems as though Melo will finally get his way.
According to Chris Broussard of ESPN.com, the New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves are close to finalizing a deal that would send Anthony to the New York Knicks.
In the reported deal, the Knicks would trade Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry to Minnesota, who would then send a first-round pick and Corey Brewer to the Denver Nuggets. Denver would also receive Wilson Chandler from New York. This would land Anthony in the Big Apple.
According to NBA sources, these are the names currently being discussed, additional players could be added to make a deal possible. The deal isn't expected to actually take place for at least a few days if not right before the NBA trade deadline.
The Knicks are 25-24 on the season and currently fighting for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. This would certainly be a huge addition for New York, who are looking to make a legitimate playoff run for the first time in almost a decade.
It would seem as though Denver has finally given into Anthony's demands of wanting to play in New York. Just a few weeks ago, a potential trade fizzled with the Nets who couldn't complete a deal to land Anthony in New Jersey.
Anthony is currently averaging 24 points and almost eight rebounds per game on the year. Denver is currently 30-21 in the Western Conference.
