2011 NBA All-Star Game: The Top 5 All-Star Snubs

Zachary AlbertiniJun 7, 2018

The All-Star rosters are complete with the exception of Yao Ming's replacement.  There's a few people on the list that, in some people's opinions, do not belong.  The All-Star game is an individual achievement, yet a lot of players are left off of the roster because of their team's record.  Let's look at some of those players who should be All-Stars.

5. Zach Randolph, PF Memphis Grizzlies

1 of 6

Zach Randolph is having another good statistical season.  Averaging 20 ppg and 13.2 rpg, Randolph is getting it done consistently.  The power forward position is a tough position in the West, but Randolph has not given the Association a reason why he should not have been selected.

4. Raymond Felton, PG New York Knicks

2 of 6

The New York Knicks are a rejuvenated team and the city of New York is truly excited about basketball again.  Amar'e Stoudemire is not the only player making a big difference though.  Raymond Felton has brought stability to the point guard position.  Felton is averaging 17.1 ppg and 8.9 apg, and really controlling the tempo for the new-look Knicks.

3. Monta Ellis, PG Golden State Warriors

3 of 6

Let's face it, Monta Ellis is one of the most dynamic scorers in the league.  He can shoot, he can drive, he can finish with contact.  The one problem that, that most people use as their argument on why he is not an All-Star, his team doesn't have a great record.  The guard position is tough in the West, and I'm not arguing against any of the guards selected in the West.  However, I am arguing that a player that can score consistently like Ellis, and a player this exciting, should be an All-Star.

2. LaMarcus Aldridge, PF Portland Trailblazers

4 of 6

LaMarcus Aldridge has been huge for Portland this season.  With Brandon Roy and Greg Oden missing a lot of time with injuries, Aldridge has stepped up as the leader of this team.  He does it all; rebounding, scoring, defending.  He's improved his outside jump shot, and is averaging 21.3 ppg and 9.0 rpg.

1. Kevin Love, PF Minnesota Timberwolves

5 of 6

If Kevin Love does not replace Yao Ming in the starting lineup, I will be extremely disappointed.  Kevin Love has been a rebounding and double-double machine this season.  Again, he is one of those players on a bad team, but when you're scoring 21.4 points and grabbing 15.5 rebounds nightly, you deserve to be an All-Star, no doubt about it.  Kevin, you had my vote.

Honorable Mention: Josh Smith, SF Atlanta Hawks

6 of 6

Josh Smith is having a very solid year this year.  He's still playing great defense as he always has, and he's added more consistent range on his jumper.  Smith is averaging 16.2 ppg and 8.9 rpg.  He has been a big reason why the Hawks are where they are in the Eastern Conference standings, in arguably the toughest division in basketball.
